Anyone know the history of Clifton Bridge,  near Sutton St James in Lincolnshire. When was it built and why was it so named.

checked Clifton's Bridge today,Cast in the concrete is the legend-CLIFTON'S BRIDGE erected by Holland County Council 1930, don't know origin of name yet

Clifton's Bridge is marked on the 1890 map of the area www.old-maps,co.uk

There were 21 CLIFTONs at Sutton St James in the 1881 census
