Hello,
I am trying to locate Ann Booth b.1836 Stafford. She was last living at 336 East St, Southwark in the 1881 census. If she is living with a husband, it should be a George, and there is possible chance of a daughter Elizabeth b.1868 living with them.
Thanks in advance
Hollie Brock

bump...anyone can help me?
-
Not sure if I've got the right one;
1891 - 35 Garden St. Newcastle under Lyme RG12/2148/67/10
Ann Booth wid 56 Greengrocer b. Sh(n)areshill, Staffs
Arthur son mar 30 Potters P?.... b. Kidsgrove, Staffs
Annie dau-in-law 29 Dressmaker b. Eccleshall, Staffs
Florence g/dau 7 b. Newcastle
Charles Sharman nephew 8 b. salford
This same family is in Brieryhurst, Staffs. in 1861 & the husbands name is Absolem not George which is why it might not be the right Ann Booth;
RG9/1923/50/27
Absolem Booth 27 T(S)ea ...? b. Newcastle
Ann 26 b. Whitmore, Staffs
Annie 2 b. Newcastle
Arthur 1m b. Kidsgrove
Some more details, Hollie, might help to pin them down. Where was Elizabeth born. Have you found the family in 1871?

No, that doesn't look them.
Ok, I have found Ann and Elizabeth in the 1881 census at RG11 0523 100 26 living with her son (not son in law like it says).
In the 1871 census she can be located at RG10 2816 86 31 as a lodger with her son Henry and daughter Elizabeth b.1868 Staffordshire.
I hope this helps.

Hollie, before we go any further, just a recap as things are not making sense :-\
1871 - RG10/2816/86/31 St. Mary Stafford
James Oatun 27 lab b. Staffs
Elizabeth 27 b. Wolverhampton
George 5 ditto
ANNE BOOTH lodger mar. 40 b. Stafford
Henry Booth son 17 Shoemaker ditto
Elizabeth 2 ditto
John Inskip lodger 20 Engine cleaner ditto
Edward Snow boarder 2 b. Hanley staffs.
1881 - RG11/523/100/20 (not 26 as you had written) Kent Road, St. George Martyr, Southwark
Henry MOSELEY 27 Bootmaker b. Stafford
Selena 25 ditto
Elizabeth 5 b. Surrey
Martha 3 ditto
Selena 8m? ditto
ANN BOOTH mother-in-law mar 46 Housekeeper b. Stafford
Elizabeth Booth sister 12 ditto
Unless Henery has changed his name from Booth to Moseley this is her son-in-law & Selena is Ann's daughter :-\
She's not with the Moseley's in 1891 who are still in Surrey. Can't find her or Elizabeth in 1891...bit of a mystery unless she died (nothing with any certainty is showing on FreeBMD)

Ann married Edwin Moseley...so became a moseley. They had two children: Henry (head of house in 1881 with his children. In 1871 his surname was listed at Booth, but it was really Moseley) and Ann. Edwin and Ann then split. Ann remarried to a George Booth and had a girl called Elizabeth.

I found them in 1861 in Newington RG9/341/185/29 & noted that Ann married George Booth Q2 1865 Newington (1d 334) Is that right?
Very odd that George doesn't appear on the 1871 & 1881 censuses. My only thoughts are that, (a) she died before 1891 or (b) she re-married before 1891 although I can't find her on the 1891 given all her details & leaving out the surname :-\ Also no luck on the 1901 census :(
It looks like her daughter, Elizabeth married a Henry John POLLARD Q4 1890, St. Saviour (which covers Southwark where the family was last living) This cross references with the 1891 census, St. Paul, Deptford RG12/505/104/27
Henry J. Pollard 28 Butler b. Lambeth Sry
Elizabeth 23 Machinist b. Stafford

I'm not sure if this mystery has been solved, but I have been looking into my Sharmans. I've come across some of my Sherman's living in Stoke of Trent with a Snow family.
I thought I'd mention, as the name Snow popped up in this post also.....
