Title: 1841 census-Pateley Bridge & Bewerley
Post by: mcrem on Thursday 23 August 07 18:41 BST (UK)
Could anyone tell me the name of the civil parish that would have included Pateley Bridge and Bewerley in the 1841 census.
I am searching for a James Mackwell, b.1833 but he does not appear in the index on Ancestry so I thought I would examine the images - hence the question about which parish to search.

The registration district for Bewerley is Pateley Bridge.

However:-

If you look at the 1841 census on Ancestry townships of Brewerley and Dacre  come under piece no 1286 which is reported as partially and/or missing

The following table shows piece numbers where part or all of the piece is missing, as well as piece numbers that were not used.

1286 Yorkshire:      Wapentake: Claro (Lower Division)
                               Parish: Ripon (part)
                              Township: Bewerley
                               Hamlet: Greenhow Hill (part)

                             Wapentake: Claro (Lower Division)
                             Parish: Ripon (part)
                             Township: Dacre
                             Hamlet: Hayshaw

Hi Tricia

Thanks for the info - I had not spotted that the census was missing.
