Any information please on the following.
James Brown & Mary Ann (nee Dunn), married 1833 Swinton & Simprin, Berwick., James Iron Moulder/Gen.Lab.
Daughter Mary Ann born about 1833 - 1842 at Dunbar, according to various census, marriage shows her 32 (1841), death at 82 (1837), 1901 68 (1833), so there is a variation in birth dates.
Next child about 1838 Coldingham ? and the rest at Coldingham.
Have been unable to find a birth for Mary Ann nor a 1841 census for the family .
They were not in Coldingham 1841 and James was dead before 1851.
Anything at all in Dunbar?

Hi Beckey,
Do you have a birthplace for either James or Mary Ann? It would help to track them down in 1841.
I have Browns in Dunbar but unfortunately not the same family. :(

Just realised you wouldn't have a birthplace for James, given he was dead by 1851. :-[

Hi Hume24,
Thanks for replying.
Possible that James born 1813 Minto, not verified.
Mary Ann bap. 1812 Coldingham, widow on the 1851 census and there was Adam shown as age 13 Coldingham & Mary 10 shown Coldingham.
Adam not found 1861 so have doubts as to where born and Mary shown Dunbar on all other census, though of varying ages.

Hello Becky,
I have just started to research the Brown family and just yesterday downloaded the 1841 Census info mentioned by hume24 above.
I can trace the 6-year old Robert Brown down to me. But I have nor started to go backwards from James Brown of Dunbar. He married Mary Dunn on 1st Sept 1833 after an irregular marriage at Coldstream the previous month. (OPR 755/0030 0193.
How do we share info? I have just enlisted here today and I am unfamiliar with these fora.
