Does anyone know what district the follow addresses would be in?

7 Ravel Row
220 Thistle Street

Thank you

There was another Thistle Street in Garnethill just North of the current City Centre which was renamed to Garnet Street in the 1920's - much of this street was demolished in the 1960's to make way for the M8. The "other" Thistle Street was in the Gorbals and became known as Thistle Street, South until the name re organisation. (The duplication came about as Glasgow expanded its boundaries and annexed previously independent burghs

I work in the city centre so if you give me the address in Mitchell Street I'll take a photo of the building if it is still there.

The address is 35 Mitchell Street and it's where a John Lynch lived in 1907. He married my grandfathers sister Jane Bradley who lived at 7 Ravel Row. I was looking at the 1901 census to see if I could find them but of course there were loads of matches :P
Thank you everyone for your help.

You can search the Valuation Rolls 1913/14 and Ward Maps of Glasgow here:-

Your family might still be at the same addresses.

Thank you. I completely forgot about that site.

I'll go to Mitchell Street this week.
Pretty sure Thistle St is gone - that area redeveloped.
Not sure about Ravel Row but I'll find out. If still there, I'll nip along. Not too far away.

According to Google maps both Ravel Row and Thistle Street still exist as streets (Ravel Row is off of Westmuir Street and leads up towards the Forge market Building... although looking at the satellite images shows nothing but 1950's or later style housing blocks)) .... Thistle Street may still exist as a road but I'm with you regarding the redevelopment I don't think there are any houses left in that section

Thank you everyone ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
Ravel Row is where my grandfather and his sister lived and maybe other members of the family. I'm not really sure how many of the Bradley clan had moved from Ireland to Glasgow ???
My mother was born at 412 Westmuir Street. Her family moved to the US in 1923 but returned to Scotland around 1928-29. The family then moved into 448 Westmuir. My grandmother lived there until she died in 1970. My uncle continued to live there until his death and my aunt the last remaining member of my mum's family eventually moved to Hull.
Once again thank you for your help.

35 Mitchell St as it is now.
The upper floors are now a lapdancing club called Diamond Dolls!
-
Thank you ;D I often wondered why anyone would live in essentially what was a commercial area. John Lynch was listed as a salesman on his marriage registration (of what I don't know) and he may have lived here as it related to his occupation ???
Thank you for taking the time.

Mitchell St at night.
Honest, I wasn't visiting the club ;).

Aha.... ;) Doesn't look like a place you should be wandering around at night...... :o
It looks like my bunch of Bradley's ended up in the Parkhead area.
