Wondered if anyone has access to the Barnsley archives, who could tell who Catherine Wade actually married.
Reference is :
QE 12/1904, Barnsley, 9c 422
and she either married George Lewis Wilkinson or James Batty.
The marriage would have taken place in the catholic church.
Many thanks.

Hi Gritter - maybe no help at all, but there is someone on Genes Reunited who had a Catherine Wade (b.1883, Barnsley). If you are on GR it might be worth sending them a message - Jackie

Hi there
Thanks for that - unfortunately that person is me!

I had that feeling! Did Catherine stay in Barnsley after marriage? I only ask as there are several Wilkinson births with the mother 'Wade' in Sculcoats between 9111 and 1920 ish. Probably just co-incidence - Jackie

Fairly sure she did stay on in Barnsley. I noticed the births in Sculcoates, but thought they went on a bit late to be her... letter to my great aunt could be necessary, I think... she just might remember!

Hi, not sure if you're still tracing this link but can confirm that Catherine Wade married George Lewis Wilkinson, they went on to have a son with the same name. What's your connection?

Hi
See if you can find George Lewis Wilkinson or James Batty on the 1911 census to see if either had a wife called Catherine.
Its not a case of just visiting Barnsley archives! its knowing which church ??? they married at as there are loads of Church's of Catholic church , C of E , nonconformist, or Jewish to speak of a few denominations! (if the groom was of another religion) in & around Barnsley by 1904 and doing a 3 month blanket searching of each church coverage could take weeks if not months. :( At the end of the day it could have been a register office wedding as popular and less expense by then also if the couple came from different religions and knowing this wound put off anyone searching for you if they know it could be good chance of a waste of their time. Again advise 1911 census or if your flush ? buy the marriage certificate (Tough advice but its honest fact as is ! in reality of third party involvement)
