Can anyone please help me with the 1841 census for Christopher Jowle and his wife Ann. They were married in Hathersage in 1805.
They had a child Ann born c 1814 in Hathersage/Bamford.
I am presuming that they still lived in Hathersage in 1841.
Many thanks.

Thanks Jan, that is lovely info. :)
I have just realised that daughter Ann was married by 1836 and living in Ecclesall Bierlow in 1851 married to George Wright born Ashover. I can't find her in 1841.
Regards,
Margaret

Ann is right next door so same ref in 1841 unless it is a big coincidence but you should be able to tell from the children perhaps.
Bamford
William Ellis 30 N
Hannah do ?23/28 Y
Hannah do 1mo Y
Ann Wright 27 Y
Joseph do 5 Y
John do 1 Y
did the other daughter marry an Ellis.

oooh, thanks for that info. ;D
Yes Hannah Jowle married William Ellis in 1839 in Hathersage. So that part is correct.
I don't have a Joseph on 1851, the eldest child is William born 1838. Where was he then in 1841?
I know there was a Joseph from Baptism records, I wonder if he is living in Hathersage in 1851 and not Sheffield with his parents. Joseph Baptised in 1836.
Next child on 1851 is John born 1840, so that covers him.
Doesn't explain where father George Wright is does it. I wonder if he had gone to Sheffield to look for work.
Many thanks.

I wonder if you could lookup 1841 census for Hathersage for Edward Winwood and wife Sarah Ann Unknown whose son James Winwood was born 1832 in Hathersage. I cannot find them anywhere! There also may be a marriage but cant find that either. Many thanks

Hi,
It looks like Sarah Ann may have died and Edward remarried, Farnworth was in the Bolton registration district and I found these,
Death
Sarah Ann WINWOOD Jun Q 1840 Bolton v.21 p.111
Marriage
Edward WINWOOD Sep Q Bolton v.21 p.91
Mary NUTTALL with same details.
From the IGI,
Edward WINWOOD age:32
MARY NUTTALL age:28
Marriage: 13 SEP 1840 Farnworth With Kearsley, Lancashire
Looking at this family in 1851 HO107/2206 f.290 p.37 still in Farnworth, a 'do' under Lancashire is crossed out and Derbyshire is his POB :)
Let me know if you need this transcribed :)
