Thanks for the info Geoff, whilst they are all of interest the early marriages are very useful. Knowing some of the Saward haunts in addition to Thaxted might help me find the Isaac Saward who married Mary Green at Thaxted in 1732. 8)
Interesting to note the Fewell - Saward marriage, Fewell is also one of my family names, so many thanks for your time and trouble, let's hope it helps Kenneath also.
And a very happy new year to you also :)

Many thanks, need to go through name more thoroughly.

Hi,
I have started tracing my ancestry through the Saward Line and can trace to
George Henry(James T Ford 1852) SAWARD was born in 1832 in Little Burrow, Hertfordshire, England.
He was christened on 14 Jul 1833 in Little Burrow, Hertfordshire, England. He died on 30 Oct 1895 in Montegu,Tasmania,Austalia. He was buried in Montague,Tasmania,Australia.
He married Rachel Anne WILLIAMS on 28 Apr 1853 in Eastern Hill, East Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.
George Henry SAWARD's parents were :-
James SAWARD. James married Mary Ann MURRELL. (I do not have any dates or locations on this marriage)
They had the following child:
George Henry(James T Ford 1852) SAWARD
Does anyone have any further information on "this" James Saward

To Pete
Saw you entry today, if you let me have more info about yourself. I have large file on the Saward families. There are 2 or 3 branches in Essex. The 1 you mention emigrated to Tasmania. My direct baranch is from South Hanningfield and Little Baddow which I think may be the correct version of your Little Burrow

Thanks Kenneath,
My mum advised that Little Baddow is correct, not little burrow as decribed in the website http://home.iprimus.com.au/waratah/waratah/pafg09.htm#3162.
In researching my ancestry in the Saward Line, this website confirms the branch that emigrated to Tasmania. I have become aware of a book that exists called
"George Henry Saward : his ancestors and descendants, c1600 to 1982" by Delma R Carne
This is about the Saward Family in Australia 1852 - 1982.
The ISBN is 0959167501 and apparently it is out of print !
From my discussions with mum, aunts and uncles and the website above I now know that :-
James Saward had 1 child with Mary Ann Murrell, George Henry Saward.
George Henry Saward had 16 Children and his first son
John Henry Saward had 8 children, John's 6th Child
George David Saward had 3 children, May, Les and Geoff.
May was my Grandmother.
May married Ken Stephens and had 3 children. Julia, Heather and Robert.
Heather is my mother and she married Malvinder Singh.
My parents had 3 sons, David, Paul and Peter (me the youngest of 3 brothers).
I've also started researching my Granddad's Ancestory, Ken Stephens, from Cornwell and his Great Granddad was Thomas Stephens.

Hi
Nice to hear from you and thanks for replying. Yes that book is now out of print, I have a copy of the first half and a full copy exists in the Essex Record Office, England.
Where abouts are you ???. Are you in the U.K.
I have nearly a full history of the Little Baddow lot, going back to the birth of Samuel Saward born in 1666. I have a copy of his will and lots of other information verified by birth marriage death certificates and parish Records.
We actuall have on show a full history in the Little Baddow visitor centre.
If you care to stay in touch I would be pleased to give you a helping hand

Hi,
Browsing the Great Easton PRs via the ERO's SEAX system I found the following Saward marriage, it doesn't help me but someone out there may find it useful, if not now perhaps later.
Thomas Saward married Sara Enevere 13 Jun 1625 at Gt Easton, no other info given.
ERO/SEAX reference D/P 232/1/1 image # 27.

Hi peters522,
My family tree consists of one family, Isaac Saward c1707, his wife Mary Green, daughter Ann 1733 (my ancestor) and son Isaac 1736, I'm still stuck on both Isaac Saward and Mary Green. :(
I have just arrived at 1700 in the Gt Easton PRs so I've got my finger's crossed hoping to find Isaac and Mary or at least some more of their children. I was actually looking for the name Eve in Gt Easton as part of a joint Eve research, there were no Saward clues or leads to point me in that direction, so I'm hoping where there's one Saward there may be others but I won't be holding my breath. ;D
Regards.

Hi,
I am also a descendant of George Henry [James T Ford 1852 ] Saward, our branch of the family went to Tasmania, where George Henry Saward married Rachel Ann Williams their daughter Mary Anne Saward married Henry Thorpe [Thornton] Smith, my maternal great grandfather.I came across you when I was trying to find out why the [James T Ford 1852] was in George Henry Saward's name.
I live in New Zealand.
Noeline.
-
Hey Noeline,
The James T Foord refers to the name of the sailing ship George Henry Saward was on when he immigrated to Australia.

If any one could help me please I would be extremely pleased to hear from you. I am directly related to Charles Saward and Ellen Grace Benson.
Not sure if anyone is still using this blog???
-
Hi littlemo25,
Sorry to say I cannot help you, my research and interests in the Saward name finishes at 1755 with the marriage of my ancestors Ann Saward and William Smith. Going back in time with the Sawards has been frustrating and I'm still in the same position as I was when I made my last post on this topic, 21 Jan 2011.
Regards.

Hi!
Thank you so much forgetting back to me. I wasn't sure if I would hear from anyone as I haven't used this site before.
Oh well...... back to the drawing board. Good luck!
