Could someone please look for Henry Dodds, age 22 who seems to have gone missing in the 1871 census. He married Harriet Jones (I have found her) at St Pauls deptford 13.8.71.

Thanks Donna its a real mystery. Either his name has been spellt wrong, eg Dod Dods Dobbs Doddes etc or he was away/ somewhere. At that time he was working as an 'iron ship builder'. He was born in Greenwich and is in the 1851 with his family. Any other ideas?

Hi Henry I also looked without joy. There are a few Henry DODD (no S) aged 21, one born Somerset in Bermondsey and one born Middx in Lambeth.
Do you have place of birth, parents' names?
My geography of London is poor, so forgive me if these are unlikely...

Thanks Arran(Isle?). John and Mary I already had in Brighton. Benjamin I have in Hayes Middx. Its John, James and henry who are eluding me. Maybe they didnt register , is that possible?

OK you got me - I know some of my folk are "missing", but whether because their records were damaged/ destroyed or just not transcribed yet, I'm not sure. In some cases (Alonzo BURT) I know they were alive because my mum met them in later years! Some other searchers have written of their people "missing the census" but I'm not sure what they meant.
I have toyed with the idea that some may have gone abroad, even if only to Ireland or Monmouthshire, which I don't seem to be able to get records for!!
Good luck!
