Hi,
I can only find two entries in the local newspapers regarding a William Veal (or Veale as one spells it).
The first is from the Bristol Mercury, Saturday April 4th 1846.
Deaths:-
March 28th at Longmead Cottages, Twerton, Near Bath. aged 65, Mr. William Veal, late of the Excise.
The second is from the Bristol Mercury, Saturday December 4th 1852.
Advertisements and Notices:-
CAUTION TO TRADESMEN AND OTHERS
I hereby caution all persons henceforth not to trust my wife, HARRIET VEALE, as I will not pay any debts contracted by her after this notice. (signed) WILLIAM VEALE.
Chow Magna, Somerset, 2nd December, 1852.
I think that the former may have a good possibility of being your ancestor.
The latter may not be due to the spelling, but I thought I would throw it in as it is quite interesting.
Regards,
Darin, Newcastle-upon-Tyne.

Hi,
Following her through the census (let me know if you need any of these transcribed :))in 1861 and 1871, I think she is the Caroline COLLIER in Fulham in 1881, RG11/66 f.75 p.8, born 1826 Cherrton Mincings ???. I think the image looks like it could be Chewton Mendip/s.
If that is right then this looks like her in 1851,
1851 HO107/1934 f.316 p.52 Wells St Cuthbert In
High St
Caroline VEAL Serv U 26 House serv Somt Chewton Mendip
In the household of George BAKER.
I can't see Caroline in 1841, but there is this family in Chewton Mendip with father William, maybe she's already away working,
1841 HO107/939/3 f.37 p.5 Chewton Mendip

Mercy 30
Ann 12

Thanks Daisy she is that woman :D, I too have found her in 1851 with the Baker family, though in 1841 I found a Caroline Veal with a William Veal whos is 15, I wonder if it was her and a brother, I will take note of the Veal family that you have found as it may well be her family (fingers crossed)
once again thank you for your information

My ancestor Mary (ann) Veal (b 1808) married a George Hillier about 1833 in the Bristol area. They moved to Canada shortly after. Any help or observations appreciated.

Hi there
I know that Caroline's father was called William, so if you know the names of any siblings William might be one of Marys, apart from that I'm afraid I dont know any more about them

Hello,
I only started my family tree yesterday and probably have errors in it, but my grans mum was a Veale and then when he died she remarried a Vale - remarriage was frowned on in those days but she always said the names were so close most people didn't notice!
She lived in Badsey, Worcestershire, but her family was originally from Bristol, Portsmouth and before this Somerset I think.
On my family tree I think I have a:
William Veal
BIRTH 21 MAR 1830 • Whitchurch, Somerset, England
DEATH JULY 1900 • Keynsham, Somerset
My grans sisters son would probably be able to fill in a lot of the Bristol gaps but I've not approached him yet. I'm happy to chat if you drop me a message on richard@revans.co.uk
Regards
Rich

Hi Rich
My William Veal was born 1799 and died 1877 - I'm descend from his daughter Caroline, I have only got Caroline and her father on the Veal line as I havent as yet research them backwards or sidewards - I dont know if Caroline has any brothers or sister :)
