Title: CORCORAN - Tuam
Post by: MelindaG on Wednesday 08 August 07 14:07 BST (UK)
Hi, I am new to the list and interested in finding out about the Corcorans in Tuam. My 3x great grandmother was Ann CORCORAN born Tuam circa 1816. She had a sister Eliza born circa 1823. They appear living together in Islington, London, England on the 1851 census. By this time Ann is a widow. Her husband was William LEADER whom I also believe was Irish.
Does anybody have a connection or know of this family? I know it is a long shot as I cannot be more specific about which parish in Tuam they hailed from. Thanks.
Melinda

Hi Sylvia, thanks for the reply and the great photo. Unfortunately I have no photos of any Corcorans so cannot say if there is a family resemblence or not. Thanks for the info though, every bit helps

Hello Melinda

I see that you are trying to find out about an Ann Leader nee Corcoran

I believe that her Son William born 21 Feb 1844 Christened 11 Mar 1844 Workhouse chapel Marylebone, is my GG Grandfather. He is recorded in the1861 Census RG08/130/45/21 as working as a potman in the Richman Arms P.H. in Blundell street Islington, which is where he met my GG Grandmother Jane Standley whom also lived in Blundell St at no. 7. They married in 1864 and lived at no 12 Blundell St where they raised 6 Children. William died in 1885, and Jane in 1922.

Ann Leader nee Corcoran is recorded in the 1881 Census as living in the Islington Workhouse. and I believe she died in 1886 at the Strand work house.

Hope this helps in some way

Kind regards

Chris

Melinda, i've just come across your post now.I'm Corcoran from Tuam and have info from Patrick Corcoran (1845-1896) forward down the line. His father was Martin and may be a brother to your search ?
