I am looking for the census records in Kilchoman, Islay, Argyllshire for an ancestor.
Roderick (also called Rodger) McEachern was born in Kilchoman in 1809.
In 1841 he lived at Ceandrochat with wife Marion and in 1851 at Smaul (Smaal), with his second wife Catherine McCormick
In 1869, he married again to Janet Torrie.
There is a death record with his name in 1877 on the Kilchoman indexes, but the age is wrong. It is the only one I can find after 1869, so I would like to check the cesus records to see if he is still alive and if this one is a possibility.
Does someone have acess to the census records for Kilchoman for 1861,71 and 81? I would also like to know if any of his children, John (b. 1833) Ann (1836) and Donald (1840), lived with him during those years.
Thank you very much,
Sharon Stewart Duff

Pearl, my Flora McEachern of about the same age was living with her father, Donald at Ceandrochat and unmarried in 1841. I haven't found the connection to the Lechgrunart McEacherns, although I am sure one exists
Are you related to Quentin Dick who married Mary Cameron in Portnhaven, Islay in 1858?

Flora McEachern who was married to Donald Brown died on 20 Aug 1873 in Gruinart in Kilchoman. Age at death given as 68 registered by her son Coll Brown. cause of death bronchitis. Her parents are listed as John McEachern and Flora McLellan.
I have more on John and Flora's family and I will try and post within next day or so.

Hello! Just wondering Roderick McEachern's parents names? My ancestor, a MCEACHERN is also from Kilchoman therefore I'm wondering if they are related?
Cheers, SeaMaiden

Roderick (Rodger) (born 1809 in Kilchoman) parents were Donald McEachern (abt 1771) & Catherine MacLellan.
Their children were Catherine, John, Rodger, Mary, Flora, Ann, Archibald.
Donald's parents were Archibald McEachern (Abt. 1750) & Ann McIndeor.
Their children were Donald Peter Mary and Catherine*
Catherine MacLellan's parents were likely Hugh McLellan & Ann McEachern
*This Catherine McEachern married George Torrie. They had a daughter Janet who married, as her 2nd husband and his 3rd wife, Roderick aka Rodger who started this conversation.
