A warm welcome to Roots Chat BH, it is a fantastic site I hope you will enjoy it as much as I do.  ;D

I have found a Mary Harrison on the IGI references: P00581. She was born 25th Jan 1795 in Chester-le-Street to John and Jane Harrison.
This may not be your lady, I suggest you treat IGIs with caution, but if you haven't used them yet you can find them at www.familysearch.org    Using the references you could thentrace the original parish record which may give you more information.

Best wishes
Amanda

Hi BH

Welcome to rootschat!

You can also try www.durhamrecordsonline.com and www.familyhistoryonline.net both pay-to-view sites but good value

The same baptism as Amanda gave you is listed on durhamrecordsonline

Hi BH, Hi Barbara,
There are other Mary Harrisons born in Chester le Street in the 10 year period around 1800.
Best to check them all.

Hi BH

If you enter Durham Marriage Bonds into your seach engine, a couple of sites appear which look to explain them
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~mcneillyandco/mbonds.htm is one

Hi Amanda, Hi Barbara

Thanks for the suggestions.   Still struggling because of the various Mary Harrisons (I am not in area to check parish records).   I have tried Durham Online and did find some baptisms but not marriages.

Hi BH,

Mary's baptism record:
Chester-le-Street, 1801.
Mary HARRISON, born 23rd Aug 1801, bapt 25th Oct 1801, 4th daughter of John HARRISON of Fatfield. ??putter at Houston, by his wife Jane ALLISON of Birtley.

I checked back 20 years for a marriage of Mary's parents but they are not on my transcripts. Maybe they married in the brides parish of Birtley NBL.

Hope this helps
cheers
Geoff

Hi Geoff

Many thanks for that.   I will continue trying to find Mary's gparents!!!!!!!!!!   George is a bit of a problem too.
I know his parents were George Cockburn (b. Meldon), Miller and Elizabeth Pringle (b. ?? Birtley - but where!!).
I think she may have been born Birtley, Durham but perhaps it was Northumberland, just guessing really because of all the Cockburns and Pringles.   I do know her father was John.   If you can give any help here I would really appreciate.

Cheers BH

The occupation "putter" is explained here:
http://www.dmm.org.uk/educate/mineocc.htm
 - some useful and very interesting information on this site.

Hi BH,
The only reason I said NBL was this. I had looked up on PARLOC for the location of Birtley and it gave NBL as the only Birtley there was.

Doesn't matter, I found Elizabeth's baptism record.
Chester - le - Street
22nd May 1774.
Elizabeth, daughter of John PRINGLE & his wife Eleanor.

It didn't give their place of residence unfortunately.
I've had a quick look over the previous 20 years for John & Eleanor's marriage without any luck.
I'll recheck this & I will do a recheck on Mary's parents also.
You never know, I could have missed them.

Cheers
Geoff

Hi Geoff
Thanks again for that, have now found John Pringle and Eleanor Bird, m.20.10.1760, Sunderland (IGI) and
Richard, sibling to Elizabeth, though can't find any more.   I have also found John's parents; George and Elizabeth Robson, m.1728, Chester Le Street (IGI).

Have also found sosme of Mary's siblings, parents John and Jane Allison, though can't find gparents.

Really struggling with George Cockburn, native of Meldon, bap. ? 1775, married Elizabeth Pringle, m. 1 Feb 1794.
I know his father was George but can't confirm if mother was Mary Carr, or any siblings.   Any ideas????

Thank you for help so far.

Cheers BH
