I'm researching family history for my elderly grandfather who's very unsure of his past.
His mother Mary Ann Hirons (b. 1901 Bromsgrove d. 1940 Coventry) married a Wallace Davis (b. 1889 Stourbridge d. 1958 Stourbridge), however, nothing before this is known.
We don't know Mary Ann Hirons' parents names, all we know is that she was born in Bromsgrove and possibly (?) had two brothers called Frederick & Arthur. This hasn't been confirmed but another elderly relative seems to remember them.
It would mean such a great deal to my grandfather, he's spent 72 years trying to peice together his family. I'm out of my depth, Many thanks in advance for any help.

Hi
The best advice that I can give you to help start solving this puzzle is to purchase the marriage certificate for Mary Ann and Wallace. This will tell you who their parents were. From there it will be possible to trace the family back by using the UK Census Records and the BMD Records.
I have had a bit of a look at the Census for you and there is one Wallace DAVIS born in Stamber Mill, Worcestershire, 1890, to parents George and Sarah. They were living in Staffordshire.
1901 Census England Staffordshire Quarry Bank
RG13/2762/94/31
1 Bercklin Street
DAVIS
George Head Marr 48 Spade Tree ( Tool ) Maker Stourbridge Worcester
Sarah Wife Marr 49 Stamber Mill Worcester
David Son Unmarr 18 Spade ( Tool ) Finisher Woolston Worcester
Wallace Son Unmarr 11 Stamber Mill Worcester
Ethel Dau Unmarr 9 Stamber Mill Worcester
1891 Census England Worcestershire Lye
RG12/2303/109/5
26 Hickman Street
DAVIS
George Head Marr 37 Tree Turner Worcester Stourbridge
Sarah Wife Marr 39 Staffordshire Thor??
David E Son Unmarr 8 Scholar Worcester Woolaston
Sarah Dau Unmarr 6 Scholar Worcester Lye
Wallace ( Walter ?) Son Unmarr 1 Worcester Lye
This may be the family that you want. But until you have the marriage certificate you really won't be sure. There were something like 100 families in Worcestershire in !901 with the surname HIRONS.
Happy to help with any other questions you may have.
Good luck with the search
Cheers

Many thanks for your help.
Bercklin Street is in fact Brick Kiln street in Quarry Bank. Took my grandfather to visit today, the house is still there. Again, thanks for this!
I'm going to find the marriage certificate on Monday for Hirons/Davis, hopefully this will shed some light!

Hi
When the certificate arrives, let us know who the parents were and we will be able to help you take these families back a bit further.
Good Luck

:)Hi - My Grandmother was Mary Ann Davis who died in Coventry in the Blitz. Her name is inscribed on the war memorial in the London Road Cemetery. My mother and my sisters have been to the Remembrance Day services at the memorial in recent years.
Mary was born in Bromsgrove in 1901, the daughter of Thomas Hirons and Elizabeth Ward. Mary had 2 brothers (Bert and Fred) and a half-brother, Arthur.
It would be great to get in contact as you are a missing link in my family tree.
Hoping to hear from you soon.
