Hello, do you have any more information on Johanna Hopley? I have a great grandfather x 3, William Hopley born c.1811 Clonmel (nr. Wexford) enlisted 1829 Wexford.
Hopley is not a common name in Ireland - just wondering if there's any connection, regards, Jan

thomas Byrne would have been my dads cousin. My dad was born 1923 and lived in Garryvarren in Wexford. I believed that Thomas was also there. Johanna Hopley was my grandmas sister. Her sister was Mary. From searching I never seamed to find much but I thought Thomas moved to America with his wife. My dad never spoke much about his life when he was young either. I believe William Hopley died young.

John Byrne's son Thomas Byrne was my father-in-law ,he came to the US in 1954 and brought his wife and daughter here in 1956. Moving to Springfield Mo. Tom never spoke about his past while alive but after his death in 1979 we found out that he severed in the British army serving in Africa and Malta finally in Germany where he married my mother in law, we tried to get information about his youth but to no avail. I would like to be able to do some research as to his military life and any information about his growing up years. Have i reached a dead end?

Hi I know this is a long shot but my grandfather Patrick John Byrne born around 1924 could be linked. He came to the uk around 1945 when he joined the RAF. As far as I know both of his parents had passed away by then. He never talked about his younger years either. It was a difficult time for him too.We believe he may have had a brother possibly called Thomas who left ireland and went to america though.

Alreaady a post on Patrick here so info is not duplicated
