Title: Teague 1841 and 1851 census
Post by: seasider on Sunday 29 July 07 16:32 BST (UK)
Could anyone please find me Thomas Teague and his family on the 1841 and 1851 census. He was born around 1831 in Colford, Gloucester. He probably married Maria between 51 and 61,so he is likely to be with his parents before then.
                  Many Thanks
                          Pat

Ok, I've tracked him down in 1871 in Monmouth - Coleford registers here

Just seen your reply - I know you want his parents but it is difficult when I don't know where Colford is ;)

I can spot him up to 1901 but not before 1871

Most times his birthplace is Colford but once it was Newland and although he appears on the England census 1871, 1881 and 1891 he is on the Wales census in 1901 living West Dean Monmouth .

I have looked on both before 1871 but he isn't behaving and I can't identify him.

Hope someone else is looking

And on the GENUKI site you will find reference to Parloc.  If you get the free parish locator, you will be able to find any parish and the programme has other useful facilities.

Hi
Many Thanks to everyone for all the information on Thomas Teague.I will study it and see if I can match it with the other info.I have.
The thing is I don't know for sure if his wife was Maria, but my Grandmother was called Maria,so it figures. It's interesting that he was in Wales in 1901.Can you tell me who was also in the household?
                                                                                Kind Regards

The other Thomas Teague is aslo on the Wales census

1901

Berry Hill West Dean, Gloucestershire

Thomas Teague Head 68 Crown wood cutter born West Dean Gloucestershire
Elizabeth wife 64 born West Dean Gloucestershire

RG13/ 4922 Folio 60 Page 11.

If this were my family I would verify the facts through birth certificates - do you have your Grandmothers birth cert - was she Thomas' daughter or grand daughter?

These 2 Thomas' are very similiar and you need to sort out which one belongs to you. They are all probably related and I don't think you should assume the Thomas with Maria is the correct one without further evidence

Thanks Tricia
Yes,I will have to find out more, because Elizabeth was also a name that ran through the later Teagues.
It's Thomas' Granddaugher,so I don't have Maria on any certificates.

Hi Seasider,

I'm also decended from the TEAGUE'S of the Forest of Dean.
Have a look at this website.

http://www.forest-of-dean.net/

You can join as a member (costs nothing)
Then you can search through all the transcribed registers for all the parishes.
The search engine on the site is excellant.

I have 7 Thomas Teague  in my tree one of them born 1832 he married Elizabeth Gwilliam though.

Happy hunting
Genie
