Post by: Joy McDuff on Wednesday 25 July 07 11:19 BST (UK)
Does any one have any info on a family living in North Woolwich{thats the Essex side} with the suname McDuff. I am actually looking for William Henry James Mcduff father of James McDuff. James was born 1864 and married in 1893 but WHJ McDuff was put as deceased at the time of this marriage. Any help would be grayefully recieved

Hi Joy

sorry I have no info on your McDuff but wanted to say my surname is McIlduff which may well have a connection some way back.  I know some McIlduffs changed their names to McDuff, Duff, McKillduff and various others.  My McIlduffs originate from Ireland, have you any idea where your McDuffs originate from ?

Hi Floss

As far as I know this branch of the McDuff's came from Scotland. I have hearsay that says William Henry James McDuff was a Sea Captain {don't know if thats merchant or costal} and he married Sarah ??? then moved to England. Any help appreciated. Thanks for your reply

Hello Floss,

I see that you are researching my mother's family, the Forwards from Grimsby.

I don't want to hijack this topic, but is there somewhere we can discuss?

John.
