Hello,
Welcome to Rootschat on behalf of everyone here.  Do hope you make good progress.

Wiith that in mind, what sort of date and sort of place are you hoping you will find your Kirkpatrick family?  I'm sure with a lttle more detail someone will be able to point you in the right direction.

Best wishes

Many thanks for your response.   Here are the details:
David KIRKPATRICK b abt 1783 - birth date calculated from his age at death, in Cheshire in 1837.
He married in 1818 to Mary SILLERS/SELLERS in Liverpool, at which time he was a Mariner.  With her they had 8 children, all born Caldy, Cheshire, all taken across the Mersey to a Universalist (non Conformist) Chapel to be baptised.
David KIRKPATRICK died when living at 130 Park Lane, Liverpool, a Surgeon.
Mary was a Teacher.
I've drawn a blank in looking for Mariner or Surgeon records - he could have just been a barber, as they were then.
My quest is to take his line back, to find parents, and I've not wanted to assume anything, of course.  However, one of his children gave me a clue and ended the latter part of his life in Scotland.
I was hoping that I might get some clues but I realise its a tall order.
Thanks
