Title: 1940's Family Photo Restoration

The following photo, taken in the 1940's, is heavily 'misted' over. I'm not sure if this was how the photo has always been or if this occurred slowly over the years. I was wondering if one of you talented photo restorers out there could give it a go?

Here is a quick one from me, not a great improvement but scratches are gone and anyone can use this if they wish

Thanks for the efforts guys. Great work on the removal of scratches, dirt etc. but I would have thought the picture was too dark now 'tog'?
