Hi
I am chasing up info. on Alfred George Tydeman he was born in 1888 at Lambeth St. Saviours. He married Alice Emily Quennell date & place unknown.
There were 2 other marriages listed for An Alfred G. Tydeman one in 1906 & another in 1912 don't know if it was him?
He had 9 children born from 1921 up till 1938.
I think his occupation was boot maker? & he was supposed to have enlisted in the Army in WW1.
I believe his parents were Thomas Edmund Tydeman born C1856 in Suffolk & Agnes Gertrude Packer born C1853 in Kent.
Alice Emily Quennel was born C1892 Shropshire
Any assistance will be appreciated.
regards Brian Ken

http://www.ancestry.co.uk/search/rectype/vital/freebmd/bmd.aspx
- you can search quarter by quarter here for the marriage - it seems likely that the marriage was post-WWI, so not likely to be on freebmd. Marriage certificate should show you if he was previously married or not.
1901, Lambeth:
William Tydeman, 36, b. Kingsland, Salesman
William, 14, b. Greenwich, Clerk Commercial
Alfred G, 13, b. Lambeth
Walter, 8, b. London
There was a Thomas Edmund Tydeman who married possibly Agnes Gertrude Parker (freebmd.rootsweb.com), but I can see them in Streatham in 1901 with children Frederick M and Walter E, no Alfred.

The only Alfred G TYDEMAN I can see on the 1891 and 1901 census born 1888 in Surrey was the son of William and Ellen, and was aged 13 in 1901, born London, living at Lambeth, aged 2 in 1891, born Lambeth, living at St Paul, Deptford. Had an older brother William, born 1887, and younger brothers Ambrose 1890, Walter 1893 and sister Ellen 1897.
Can post this census stuff if it is yours.
The Thomas and Agnes you mentioned had two sons Frederick born c1886 and Walter born c1888.
There were two other Alfreds on the census, one an Alfred born 1882 at Mile End, London, and who in 1891 was in the Mile End Workhouse, and the other an Alfred G born 1879 in Stoke Damerel in Devon. 1881 he was still in Devon, 1891 in Chiselhurst, Kent and 1901 in Camberwell, Surrey. This ones father was Ebenezer.

Ian your a legend mate, so I did pick the wrong Alfred G. Tydeman !
I would love to have that census info.
You see my mate Peter Tydeman had no idea who his ancestors were except that his father was Alfred G. Tydeman & his mother was Alice Emily Quennell. Peter's family lived in Middlesex/London until he migrated to Australia in 1960.
Thanks Ian much appreciated.
PS I take it you are NZ. don't beat us by too much in the next RU game!

Ian thanks heaps mate, what a coincidence William Tydeman was a boot salesman. My mate Peter Tydeman used to own a Boot makers shop in Sydney. His son Jason Tydeman now runs that shop. Also Peter's wife was born in Wales too.
Once again thank you very much Ian for your help.

I can trace Alfred George's ancestry back to about 1650. - all the UK Tydemans are descended from William Tydeman in Earl Stonham, Suffolk.
I am currently writing a brief history of Tydeman emigration to Australia and would welcome any info you can exchange

HI
Thank you very much for your reply re Alfred Tydeman, I was just helping my mate Peter Tydeman to chase up his family history. I will get Peter to contact you.
He is extremely keen to find out any thing about that line. Peter & wife Joan arrived in Aust. C 1961.
