Title: which is correct?
Post by: eilidh on Sunday 15 July 07 23:05 BST (UK)
Hi,

Can someone please enlighten me as to the the correct pronunciation of Genealogy as I regularly hear both versions. Is it ;

Genealogy  as in all good men

or

Genealogy as in alfred

Thanks

The same way as you pronounce "Path" and that depends on where your origins are.

Genealogy should be pronounced as it is spelt. There is no 'o' after Gene it is an 'a' - a flat 'a'!!
It is not an 'ology'.

With just one 'l' I guess it's al - ogy, as in pal.   If there were two 'ls' (ll) it would be all - ogy, as in ball.

Hmmmm what if this is a fallacy............

What a language  ;)
