Can anyone out there help me, I am trying to locate the baptism and marriage of Lydia Moyse she was born c1791 in Worlingworth. I don't know where she was married, but she married a James Edwards, and their eldest child that I have found was Lydia born c1814 in Peasenhall. I can't take my research any further back until I find something. Thanks very much Looby Loo

Hi Looby Loo
Taken from Worlingworth parish register
Lydia d/o John and Elizabeth Moyse (late Mutimer)
privately baptised 2nd October 1791
Also some siblings:
Matilda born 7th July and pub baptised 12 Aug 1790
John privately bap 19th Jan 1794
James privately bap 2 Mar 1795
Catherine bap 19th June 1796
I could not see the marriage for John and Elizabeth at Worlingworth, not sure if they married there, but spotted this one:
1748 - Isaac Moyse and Mary King
Which may or may not be yours, but have noted it just in case.
Taken from Peasenhall parish register
James Edwards OTP - signed X
Lydia Moyse (of Wangford) - signed her name
married 1st March 1812
Witnesses: William Harvey and Joseph Harvey

Hi Anne,
Thank you very much for that information, it is much appreciated. That marriage at Peasenhall would be them. I am pleasantly surprised to find that Lydia signed her name at marriage, that would have been unusual in that time period. Thanks Again.

Hi Anne,
I was just wondering do you have the Peasenhall registers? If so, if it is not too much bother, could you look to see if James Edwards was baptised there, as I have no idea where he was born, but with him saying of the parish Peasenhall at his marriage he may have been born there. Going by his age at burial, he would have been born c1786. No worries if you have not got them or don't have time.

Hi Elaine
Unfortunately I don't have any parish records but occasionally do lookups at the records office, as I did with yours.
It may be several weeks or more before I can get there again but will take another look at Peasenhall for you then.
Best wishes
Anne

Hi Anne,
Thanks for that. I don't mind waiting. I have tried to get to Suffolk for the past 3 years, but due to family illness I have been unable to do so. Perhaps next year, with a bit of luck. Once again, thanks a lot, it is much appreciated. It will also give me a head start when I do manage to get to Suffolk.
Kind Regards

Hi Elaine, I managed to squeeze in a visit to the RO earlier than expected! Unfortunately I did not have as much luck this vist :(
I looked at Peasenhall baptisms up to 1795 but could not see any Edwards at all, and in particular not James Edwards.
I found Lydia Edwards baptism in Peasenhall on 14th May 1814 (as you said) but could find no other children of James and Lydia baptised at Peasenhall at all.
Sorry I wasn't able to help you this time.
Kind regards
Anne

Hi Anne,
Thanks for trying any how, it is much appreciated, and I am very grateful for what you have already done. That line of the Edwards will have to come to a close now at James, as I have no where else to look, no father named at marriage or names of witnessess ringing a bell, never mind these things are sent to try us.
Thanks again.
