here's a visual quick tip

This is my Great Grandparents Wedding Photo taken on the 26 Nov 1924.

This is a picture of my Dad with his beloved dogs.
To those in the know about dogs, look how the breed has been changed. They are chunkier and heavier now, also thicker heads and necks.
This was taken 1937 well before war broke out

Oh 2 beautiful dogs, Rabbit, why oh why do they have to alter the shape and size of those lovely animals.

I agree. And the dogs looked more friendlier I think in the good old days. Especially Bull Dogs, they used to be smaller I've heard.
Here's another photo. The first is of my Great Grandmother (Mona Mary Cole) and my Grandmother (Monica Ellen Maude Bennett). The Second (to continue with the dog theme) of my Great Grandfather (Walter James Bennett). Both Photos are dated in 1940's.

Helina,
I do have to agreed with you about the dogs, it did not do them any favours at all, and bull dogs have been bred with shorter and shorter heads so that can hardly breathe!
Here is another picture of Dad in 1953 with another animal that has been ruined! Dad hasn't changed much though.

PS the last two pictures brought back memories!!
