HI Mrs C,
The burial plot records for St David Churchyard are lost!! Have you looked at the entries in the Parish records for St Davids. The recorder has occasionally put an identification of the plot position in the margin by some of the burial entries.

If you want to find out where parish records are, check the parish page on Genuki. It's usually the county record office and/or the National Library for parishes in Wales.

Hi Mrs C,
Microfilmed copies of the Parish Register are at Powys Archives in Llandrindod Wells, Powys and at the National Library of Wales, Aberystwyth. I've used the ones at Powys Archives. Do you live in the UK?

Hi Jan,
Here is the Powys Archives link http://www.powys.gov.uk/index.php?id=647
Make sure you phone to book a place at their microfilm reader. it is a small building with limited resources, but they are very helpful. During the phone call, they will ask you what you want to view so that they can ensure all is available for you. Opening hours are on the website
Where did your Roberts family live, Jan? I have Jones family connections with Llanwrtyd and burials in St Davids.

hi cochiaid,i have e/mailed the powys archives yesterday and they have replied to me today, they say the parish records do not tell where the people are actually buried in the plots.my roberts family ran the cambrian woollen mill in the town from 1880-1916.enoch,rebecca,and their family: austin, elizabeth (who married a jones),llewellyn, ernest and hartley my husbands grandfather.we had been talking to bryn jones (the mayor of llanwrtyd)who gave us a lot of info regarding the mill and its working.what connections do you have in the town? jan.
-
Hi Jan,
There are penciled notes in some of the margins, as I said in a previous message, which were obviously done by a particular filler in of the burial record book. It is a long shot, but he/she might have done so for your graves. It certainly happened for 2 of my relatives!
My Jones family were farmers and lived in various farms around the town. I am not aware of a Roberts marrying into my extended Jones family. Do you know what his Christian name was and where he lived?
I know the Cambrian Woolen Mill.
By the way, I live in Brecon town.

hi cochiaid, thankyou for your reply i might have some luck then when i go over to the record office.the roberts that married a jones was elizabeth she died in 1914 she had a daughter (hilda annie).but i think she went down to the swansea area.did you know that there is a photograph of a group of people from the llanwrtyd area hanging up in the rooms next to the information office.its dated 1906 and to do with winning a prize for singing in the llandovery eisteddfod.all the names of the people are on the back of the photograph you might be lucky with some names there.i will check the obituaries for the roberts family which i got from the brecon county times and see if there are any jones at the funerals.jan

Hi Jan,
Do you know the Chistian name of the man Jones and was he from Llanwrtyd?
Do you mean the information office in Llanwrtyd?
Cochiaid
-
hi,cochiaid the name was william jones but i have'nt looked into that side yet,at the time of the first death 1913 that i am looking for the burial of (enoch roberts), william and elizabeth jones( nee roberts )were living in swansea with a daughter. the office where the photograph is is next to the information room i can't quite remember what it is being used for either council rooms or memoriam rooms or something to do with the british legion.we had to get permission to go in there.jan

thanks Jan,
when you find out more about William Jones, let me know to see if he is one of mine!!

hi,cochiaid, just to let you know i have found some jones names on the obituary to rebecca roberts who died in march 1916: these names attended the funeral, r.jones dinas, arthur jones, jones (tyn-y-pant), jones( nantrodyn), jones (clyncae)
quite a few.do you know of a place around the area called Llanwright if so where is it i cannot find it on the map. thanks jan.
-
Hi Jan,
The following are from my Tree r.jones (dinas), jones (tyn-y-pant), jones (clyncae). Are they stated as cousins or any other family connection, on the obit?
"Llanwright" could well be just a typing error and would then mean Llanwrtyd. What was the context in which it was mentioned?
Cochiaid
-
hi cochiaid, thanks for info on Llanwright i should have thought of that!.no the obits do not say any relations but they are also on another obit i have for 1916 for llanwrtyd.i have had a look at the names on the photo i was telling you about they are as follows:arnold jones, garth inn, rees Llewellyn price jones.pen-y-banc, jones cefnserwydd, will jones, rose villa, rees jones (bach),
tom jones ,glanirfon, ianto jones, clochydd,Llanwrtyd; thanks jan.
-
Thanks Jan,
By the way, Jones of Clyncae was my Grandfather and Jones of Dinas was his brother. Jones of Tyn y pant was a cousin of theirs. They were probably just members of the community going to the funeral.
The names on the photo do not ring a bell with me.

Hello Mrs C......
re Cambrian Mill - Enoch was my G-Grandmothers brother. I have him on all the census 1841-1901 if you do not have them I will be happy to provide, also many BMD certs for the family who seem to wandered to many parts of Wales after leaving Llangollen and eventually settling in Llanwrtyd.
I too was unable to find the graves - probably amongst those whose headstones have fallen over.
I was not aware that Hartley had married until I recently obtained his obituary and I have ordered the marriage cert. I am interested to learn if you know anything about his brother Llewellyn and Ernest after they went to America.

Hello Jan
Thanks for getting in touch. You are the first ever on this branch of my family! I am Welsh by birth but in Australia many years. I get back to Wales quite often - it was on my visit to The National Library in Aberystwyth in October that I obtained the newspaper obits for Enoch, Rebecca and Hartley from which I gleaned some info previously unknown to me.
My G-Grandmother was Mary Roberts born 10 Nov 1843 Pontfadog (then in Llangollen Parish). She is on the 1871 Llangollen Census as Young and thereafter Lloyd.
As we do not know precisely what info each other possesses I thought perhaps I could send you my spreadsheet for the Roberts family which starts with John Roberts and Elizabeth Hughes and their nine known children including Enoch and Mary. Shall I do this ? If so I shall have to figure out how to do it via Rootschat which I only joined this week and am not yet familiar with it's rules.
Stan.

I do have a lot of info on the family.Do you know anything about Austin Roberts (Enoch's oldest son?.I am not completely sure yet about the rules on rootschat but I think you can send a personal message if that's possible I will send you my e/mail address.I have all the Census and a lot of bmd's.I see on the 1881 census that Elizabeth Roberts (G/G/Grandmother )was living with Mary LLoyd and her Family.
