Hi,
Anybody out there with info on a William Tout Or a Owen Tout
Yazzie
-
Hi Yazzie
Can you give a bit more information, what year, State etc.?
Thanks
Genni
-
Yazzie,
I think Jenn from the Australian board has tried to tell you this, but I will say it again.
If you would like help from other R chatters, you need to give all you know right at the beginning, not a bit later when they have already done searches.
Start at the beginning and think what you can say about ...parents, birth dates, places, others in the family, occupations, when last heard of . Anything at all
That way we have more chance of finding your people which will be fun for you and us too.

Hi Yazzie :)
Welcome to Rootschat, yes you will get the hang of it soon! Everyone is very helpful here.
I have more questions for you - where was Owen born? If Australia, in which state/colony? If Britain, which country?
Cheers
Prue

Hi,
owen was born in nsw he is buried in Glousester cemetery nsw
Yazzie
-
Thanks Yazzie, I've now found Owen on the NSW BDM index.
Have you bought his parents' marriage certificate? Not sure what information will be on it that early, but you might be lucky and get info about the parents' parents.
The other place to get information about origins and parents etc. is from a death certificate. There is one Rose TOUT on the indexes, died 1913 in Granville, and four William TOUTs. All have parents' names shown, so if you buy the certificates it should give you information that you can use to carry on backwards :)

Hi Yazzie,
I suggest you quickly print the information that BOb has sent you as it may get removed my the moderators because they are always monitoring Copywright issues and this might be one. It would be annoying to lose it.

Hi There,
Thanks very much for that info Maybe Certificates is the way to go like other people have suggested just works out rather expensive

yazzie
hello there if you use a transcription agent the cost is $15 as opposed to 25 from the Nsw bdm
now a little thought here is you are often better to get a marriage certificate Because the folks themselves have filled it in
on a death you have to rely on the knowledge of others if you follow
regards Jenn

Thanks for that

Hi Yazzie
I'm Lyn Meehan in Australia. Where are you?
It is Rose MEEHAN
born about 1839 County Cavan, Ireland
father: Patrick MEEHAN - from County Cavan, born about 1816
mother: Susan McMAHON - from County Monaghan, Ireland, born abt 1816/17/18
I'm descended from Rose's brother Michael MEEHAN.
Rose moved with her parents to Liverpool England - probably about 1840.
Patrick and susan had five more children here, one boy died.
They all migrated to Sydney, Australia in 1855 ... and settled in Liverpool !! Sydney, NSW.
Liverpool is now an outer western suburb of Sydney, in those days it would've been a seperate town.
Immigration paid for by Patrick father, Owen Meehan, who was a convict to Sydney in 1832 aboard the ship 'Dunvegan Castle' he got 7 years for stealing a pig in Ireland. On his convict records, said his wife, Rose HAND was deceased and he had seven children in Ireland.
Patrick is the only one that I'm sure of, I've recently found 2 possible sisters. FROM LYN MEEHAN
-
Lyn again,
This is the list of Rose's siblings. (patrick MEEHAN & Susan McMAHON's children)
Rose MEEHAN born about 1839 County Cavan, Ireland - married William TOUT
Anne MEEHAN born abt 1840 Liverpool, England - married James MURRAY Liverpool, Sydney 1870
Michael MEEHAN born abt 1841 Liverpool, England -
married 1) Elizabeth Ann MOORE Liverpool, Sydney 1863
-
Sorry, I must've pressed something I didn't mean to and it posted (by itself - gremlins!)
before I'd finished. I'll try again.
Lyn again,
This is the list of Rose's siblings. (patrick MEEHAN & Susan McMAHON's children)
Rose MEEHAN born about 1839 County Cavan, Ireland - married William TOUT
Anne MEEHAN born abt 1840 Liverpool, England - married James MURRAY Liverpool, Sydney 1870
Michael MEEHAN born abt 1841 Liverpool, England -
married 1) Elizabeth Ann MOORE Liverpool, Sydney 1863
2) Johanna SCHUBERT (didn't marry, Elizabeth still alive when they
started having children)
John MEEHAN born 1843 Liverpool, England. Didn't immigrate, must've died in England as a child.
Sussanah MEEHAN born abt 1846 Liverpool, England - married Phillip ROBERTS 1865 Liverpool, Sydney
Owen MEEHAN born abt 1852 Liverpool, England - drowned in Sydney when 5 years old.
immigrated to Australia 1855
Thomas MEEHAN born 1856 Liverpool, SYDNEY - married Alice STEWART 1880 Sydney.
THIS PAGE IS JUMPING AROUND, PROLLY TELLING ME THIS IS LONG ENOUGH!!!
FROM Lyn
-
a bit more, I can't type with the page jumping.
Susan McMAHON's parents
Bernard McMAHON
Susan McKELLAR
They're probably from same County as their daughter Susan McMAHON, County Monaghan, Ireland
They were both deceased when Susan and patrick and their family immigrated to Australia in 1855.
I'm descended from Rose's brother Michael MEEHAN, from his second partner whom he didn't marry,
Johanna SCHUBERT.
Good luck with it all
I'll check back here sometimes.
Hope you come back. It's been about 4 years since you posted.
