I have contacted the registars office in St Austell regarding a possible death certificate of my uncle. My dad lost contact with him in the early 1950's
They told me that the death cert would not give his marital staus at the time of death or his parents name. only details of who registered his death
The death is registered in 1995 Yes I do mean 1995
Please can anyone tell me if this is correct? As it seems that if this is true there would be no point in ordering this cert especially as he was Born in Aberdeen and as far as I know the family has no connection with Cornwall.
KInd regards

Hi Jean,
That does appear to be the case, even now. From the GRO

Hi Jean
Those details are correct; the certificate would also show occupation and date of birth but this depends on the informant having the correct details.
Perhaps the staff in St Austell could check and see if they matched with your details; he possibly retired to Cornwall or was on holiday there when he died.
