Sarah Clay 10 Boarder is a bit of a mystery. I have checked FreeBMD and can find no-one of the approximate age. Just another complication.
Was there a piece/folio/page?

Hi PeterB, long time no speak, hope you are keeping well!
Can i ask where the Clay's & Blanchards that you're searching here fit in on my side of things?
I'm curious as i'm busy trying to track down Fred Speigh'ts father, I think I've found a possible with the info i got from Colin. And the family i am trying to search also lived on Atack street!
I'm trying to search the Williams Family
Father - Arthur
Mother - Teresa
Children - Frederick T (Frederick passed away Nov 1911, age 25) Hilda & Sarah A

Hi Chelsea, I am well and hope that you and D are the same. I have been avoiding Facebook, which has become a toxic swamp of hate and stupidity lately.
The Clays and Blanchards are only remotely relevant to you, I think.
William Henry Clay (1842-1877) married Mary Ann Hargreaves (1842-1913)
They had 5 children who were the subject of this post.
William was the son of James Clay (1804- ?, born Otley)and Hannah Maude (1803-1856)
James was the older brother of John Clay (1806-1880, born Otley) My gg-grandfather
John Clay was the father of William (1836-1912) My great-grandfather
William was the father of John (1878-1959) My grandfather.
John Clay married my grandmother Beatrice Olivia Wilson.
Beatrice was the older sister of George Frederick Wilson (1883-1936) who was Fred Speight's father in law.
This won't help much with Fred Speight's ancestry, I'm afraid.

Thankyou, yes you're right facebook is terrible at the moment.
Im curious as i actually have Blanchards on my side of the family via marriage.
Whats throwing me is why in the 1871 census is the family listed as the last name - Clay
Then in the 1881 Census its listed as - Blanchard

Hi Chelsea, William Henry Clay died in 1877, leaving Mary Ann (Hargreaves) widowed, with their 5 children. Mary Ann married Henry Blanchard in 1880 and young William Henry Blanchard appears very early in 1881, just in time to be picked up in the census.
Her children are recorded under their father's name, but she and her new child under her new husband's name. Sadly, young William Henry, named after her dead husband, died a year later in 1882.
