Title: Marriage in Bucklow District
Post by: Rudolf on Wednesday 04 July 07 19:16 BST (UK)
I have found a marriage between Albert Clements and Hilda M. Peake between July & September 1947 in the Bucklow District but the area is not yet on CheshireBMD and am not sure if it is the correct marriage for Albert as he was born in 1918 near Wigan.

Can anyone with access to records of this area look-up this marriage and confirm it is the right one by checking his age and father's name was Herbert.

Thanks.

John Clements

If you send for the marriage certificate and send a letter informing them how old Albert should be or the year he was born.Plus the father name, that will insure you will get the right certificate. They will tell you if the parents don't match so wont send it to you and you wont waste money. With it only being 1947 you might have to be a relative not to sure though. If the Marriage was registered in Bucklow thats where you will have to send your application

Bucklow comes under Trafford District.  The address is Register Office, Trafford MBC, Sale Town Hall, Waterside, Sale M33 7ZF.  Phone 0161 912 3026  As Ceilia said, if you request a copy of the certificate, specify the name of the Father, and state that if the name is incorrect on the certificate, not to send you a copy.  They will then return your cheque for £7 to you, and you will know it is the wrong marriage.

Kind regards
Su

Thanks for all your replies.  I will now send off for a certificate quoting Albert's father's name of Herbert.
