Can anyone help please.... Mary Ann Tizzard was born in 1849 in the Lyncombe/Widcombe - First Series District of Bath. Her mother's maiden name was Coleman.
Clara Jane Tizzard was born in the Lansdown district of Bath in 1852. Her mother's maiden name was Cooper. I don't have any further information on either of the girls.
I have found both the girls on later Census whereupon Mary is visiting Clara. Mary is listed as "sister in law" to Clara's husband who is head of the house. If anyone can help with a baptism record for the two girls it would be of great help.
Many thanks

How can you have mmn and not father's details?
Also, what information has come from earlier census.? i can't see anything in your post which would contradict Mary (1849) and Clara (1852) being half-sisters...

I haven't managed to find the two girls on earlier Censuses - but on the 1901 Census Clara Jane is married to Alfred Bolling and living in Lindfield, Sussex. Mary Ann is a visitor.
My 2 x great grandfather was named Henry (Harry) Tizard (changes to "Tizzard" in the next generation), born in Dorchester but moved to Bath before the 1851 Census. He married Ann Cooper in 1861 in Widcombe - their first child?, Catherine Ann, was born in 1864 in Walcot. I had wondered if Mary Ann and Clara Jane were Henry's daughters or not and had hoped a baptism date would reveal any information concerning this.
Henry was a batchelor (as his marriage certificates states when he and Ann married). He was a coach builder by trade and was residing in Claverton Street, Bath, at the time of his marriage to Ann. So perhaps Mary Ann and Clara Jane are not Henry's daughters after all, but they could be related in some other way.
Thanks

Ok, I'm trying to make sense of how you have made your conclusions.
Where's the evidence that Mary Ann was ever a Tizzard?
You don't have the marriage certficate, or you would have been able to confirm the name of her father...
And I still don't know how you could possible have a MMN and no father....

I have seen Mary Ann's and Clara's births on the Bath BMD site. I am trying to find them to see if they do tie into my Tizard line. The site only lists the surnames of the parents.
