My husbands family have always maintained that they were linked to William Barrow an able seaman on the Victory at the battle of trafalgar. Actually they said head gunner but I found out he was only and able seaman. The family tree they gave wasn't quite right but when I researched there was a Charlotte Barrow born 1823 in Offham Maistone who married a Thomas Startup in 1842 in Maidstone. One of their sons married an Ann Hill and had a child called Victor after the said connection, another son Francis married a Wickens who married my husbands grandfather. But I can't establish any link between Charlotte and the said William. As far as I can tell Charlotte's father was Thomas Barrow born Offham in 1791 and that is as far as I've got.

Are you sure it's Offham and not Otham? Both close to Maidstone but different places. The only reason I ask is there is a lot of Barrows connected with Otham in the censuses but none with Offham so far.

Sorry I did put the wrong village. You are right.
