The ship “Ann Wilson” Departed England 1856 arrived Wellington, N.Z. 1857 – Is there a log book available stating the deaths of the eighteen passengers who died on their journey to N.Z.? I’m after info on William & Sarah Field and children George & James. Apparently William Field died on his voyage out to N.Z. I am unable to locate any form of death registration! Any help would be greatly appreciated

Hi Lynn
I've checked the arrival cards at the local library and there is reference to the Wellington independent.
Unfortunately this paper is only available on-line from 1860.
I did a search on here
http://www.natlib.govt.nz/
and it appears that 1857 is on microfilm.
They usually contain quite a bit of info regarding shipping arrivals.

I have a copy of the Wellington Independant 'Ann Wilson' passenger list as my Hooper family arrived on this vessel also. Sophia Hooper is thought to have died on board also as she is listed as a passenger but was never mentioned in NZ at all and it is presumed the little 6 year old died on board.
The names W. Sarah, A. George, & James Field are listed on the passenger list in this newspaper article.
No ages given in this list unfortunalety and no deaths mentioned except the article beside which mentions the inquest into Jonaton Deverell's [Devorill sic] death.
I am trying to compose a list of names of those who perished on the 'Ann Wilson' so it was interesting to note William Field as one of those who lost their lives aboard her.
