Hi Zimmerman

Have you got your Mary on any census ~ probably not given that you are unsure of her birth place.

The closest I can see in Scotland in the 1891 Census:

James McKiddee    30, shoemaker, b. Kirland, Fifeshire
Jane Ann McKiddee 28, CO-Angus, Perthshire
Mary McKiddee    8, CO-Angus, Perthshire
John McKiddee    4, CO-Angus, Perthshire
Alexr McKiddee    2, b. Alyth, Perthshire
Adam McKiddee    5 Weeks, b. Alyth, Perthshire

Address:  Airlie St, Alyth, Perthshire

Do you have an occupation for her father? If you could post the section with mother's maiden name, maybe people could  help decipher.

Regards.

Monica  :)

Hi ZImmerman, Monica and all,

Mary McCreadie born 11 Sep 1833 Old Luce, Wigtownshire
Parents James McCreadie and Ann Davidson. (submitted record IGI)

Not sure about this, Zimmerman, can you check for typo on date 1833 or 1883. I could not find Mary McCreadie on 1891 or 1901 cennsus

Did a parent search on IGI, 5 children were returned including Mary 11 Sep 1833, but the only extracted record was Hugh  McCreadie on 14 AUG 1839   Old Luce, Wigtown, Scotland.

S, check dates please and post any other info from MC, of course if it is before 1855 there will not be much more info.

Tom

Tom/Sancti

Definitely not born 1833.

James McCreadie 1880 marriage a possibility.

Known facts.

Married25/3/1908 in Perth western aust to a Fakir Shah.
Fathers name James and occupation was bricklayer.
Her age was 25 so that would make her birth 1883

Noticed one other thing just now from the certificate her mother was Anne or Annie surname something like Farrell but not sure as very hard to read but it looks like it starts with a F and ends with a double 'LL'. But what l noticed was that her mother was 'deceased'

The Mary Shah dying in 1928 is mine.

The Mary Shay dying in 1907 is her daughter.

The Fakir Shah dying in 1940 was Marys Husband.

All these l already have but thank you all anyway.

My problem/ brickwall is that l cannot find her birth or parents and such.

The only clues from the certificates is from Marys wedding certificate.

The following information l have got from the certificate

Name                         MARY MCCREADIE
Husband                     FAKIR SHAH
Date                           25/03/1908  Perth Australia
Age                             25    spinster
profession                   Housekeeper
fathers name               james McCreadie
fathers occupation       bricklayer
mothers name              Annie F****LL (possibly Farrell)

Her signature reads M M  Creadie so another possible spelling could even be Creadie.

This is the only info l have got her death info gives nothing.

On the IGI l have found McCreadies and McCreddys  in Ayr and Wigtown but whethers shes from there ????

still hoping someone can help

Zimmerman

Hi Zimmerman,

It seems to be a pretty impossible task when you don't even know where Mary was born - could have been anywhere in the UK, or in Australia, or elsewhere ...

I guess you've tried shipping records for her arrival (if she wasn't born in WA).

Have you searched for her birth in WA?  Or the deaths in WA of appropriate James and Annie MCCREADIEs (however spelled).

I thought I had come across a vaguely likely looking couple in the 1881 census on FamilySearch:
In Hulme, Lancashire
James MCCREADIE  Head  Age 30   Born N..., Scotland, Painter
Annie MCCREADIE  Wife  Age 31   Born Lanark, Scotland
James MCCREADIE  Son  Age 5   Manchester, Lancashire, England, Scholar

But I couldn't get any further with them ...

Hi Jap

The WA Cert does not give her place of birth and no she wasn't born in WA.

Her parents did not die in WA, nor Vic, or NSW, or SA. The records are not open in QLD and TAS as yet. And no l haven't been able to find her shipping arrival yet.

My father seems to think she was born either in Scotland or Ireland.

Hi Guys

I have found the marriage of James McCreadie & Anna Farrell in 1874, Orange, NSW, Aust.

I don't know how l missed it ...but l did.

I have ordered the Wedd cert and expect to get it the next fortnight. I still haven't located Annas death. Nor James death.

We'll see what the cert provides...you may hear from me again in a fortnight.

cheers

Hi Zimmerman,

That's great!  Let's hope the marriage certificate gives heaps of information.

No doubt you noticed the birth of Eva MCCREADIE, parents James & Annie, in 1876 in Orange.

Hi All

The wedding cert was useless no info other than thir ages and place of residence.

The only bit of info was that they were married at Edward McCreadies residence...father or uncle maybe. One of the witnesses was a Bridget Farrell possibly sister, or in-law or cousin??

I have since worked out Annies birth... 1842 in NSW her parents Edward and Mary.

But again l can't find their marriage or deaths

And l still haven't found the birth or death of James McCreadi.

Hoping for help or advice,

Zimmerman
