I looked at the AA Route Planner Ireland 

From:  Termon, Cavan

To:  Cootehill,Cavan

Distance:  52.8 miles 

Time: 1 hr 30 min

It would have taken longer to travel that distance in the 1800s.

If the William Brown/Margaret McVitty turns out to be the parents of your William Brown, I have a few more in the family I've seen in Cootehill Presbyterian church records.
