I was brought up in Shetland where "Peem" seemed to be quite a common name. It's short for Peter .

I'm from Angus and Peem is always used as a nickname for people called James.
It is more often used in rural areas.

further to the questions related to the meaning of the name Peem. I am James (Jim) and my name at school was Peem. Very commonly used in Glasgow and Paisley. Being the smallest of two in my school I was therefore known as Wee Peem - Little Jim
