Hi again
I would be grateful for any information on the THUBRON family. In particular Edward THUBRON born c 1805 Fishburn Durham.
This family surname seems to have numerous spellings
Thubron / Thorburn / Thoburn / Thubborn / Thouborn
The list goes on, THUBRON appears to be the more common.
There is also the possibility that the family may have been Catholic ???
Appreciate anything
Kim :)

Hi Kim,
www.durhamrecordsonline.com have a burial for Edward in 1877 Easington (pay to view full details)
Do you have the family on the 1841-1871 census?

Thanks Barbara
I'll have a look at this. I have the family in all but the 1841 census. Couldn't find them in 1841.

Barbara you are wonderful, I searched all day yesterday, tried every variation I could think of, even tried using the all christian names without entering a surnamne & came up with nothing in 1841. Thompson did not jump out at me, obviously it should have.
Thanks again

I live in Fishburn, if i can help by visiting the cemetry for you and looking for a headstone, it will be no problem!

Can't take all the credit - I used the search index on durhamrecordsonline - they had it indexed as Thewbron (Thubron) and it gave the district, so I then looked on the other site under Christian name date of birth & Easington. :D

Ive been to the cemetry anyway...couldnt find aheadstone with a name like that anywhere. But there are graves without headstones too.
Its not a big place, so it didnt take long. I do know that people were also buried at Sedgefield before Fishburn cemetry was made!

Thanks Debbie
I know at this stage that Edward was born in Fishburn but I don't know who his parents were yet so I can only assume they may have died in Fishburn.
I have come across an Isaac Thubron during my research who seems to have remained in Fishburn but what his connection is to my Edward I haven't yet established (perhaps a brother)
Thanks for taking the time to look

I haven't been able to find any Edward Thubron in the Sedgefield parish record. Actually there are quite a few with that last name. If you ever find yours and want to compare to Isaac. Isaac's parents were Robert of Butterwich Bridge and his Wife Dinah Brown daughter of Isaac Brown and his wife Martha of Eppleton in the parish of Houghton le Spring.

Hi Janis
Thanks for this but I now think if Isaac is related in any way it is more that of cousin????
All census records from 1851 - 1871 record Edward's place of birth as Fishburn Durham.
However, he married in Elwick Hall, is Elwick Hall close enough to Fishburn to be considered a possibily?
Kim

Sorry I am not sure where Fishburn is exactly. Elwick Hall is next to Sedgefield. Janis

Hi Kim,
If you enter Fishburn in the genuki search engine gazetteer at the bottom of this webpage - www.genuki.org.uk/contents - and then scroll down to Fishburn and click on the map reference, then on one of the map links, it will show the area, Fishburn is halfway between Sedgefield and Trimdon

I saw your message about Edward Thubron.
For your info I am presently transcribing records for Sedgefield and have happened across a baptism where the father is shown as Edward Thubborn.
The child baptised was John Hall (or Halls - not quite sure). His mother was Margaret Hall or Halls - a servant.
The child was baptised on 13th December 1823 and the father was shown as Edward Thubborn of Fishburn - a labourer.
Do let me know if you think this has been helpful.
-
Sorry - forgot to mention that the mother Margaret Hall (Halls) was also from Fishburn.
-
Hi Almaha
I know Edward married Ann Greenwell in Oct 1824 perhaps he had an illegitimate child the year before with Margaret Hall. Worth looking into
Thanks Kim
