Title: Richard CAUNT m 1817 Rippingale
Post by: bobtonks on Monday 11 June 07 13:46 BST (UK)
Does anyone have access to the Rippingale Parish Records? I would like the details of the marriage of Richard Caunt and Sarah Ellis 5th June 1817 at Rippingale.

Hi

We have looked at this marriage on a previous trip to Lincoln, the only extra details on the register were the witness names:  Thos Sandall and Wm Nicols.
What extra info were you hoping to find?

Regards
Jamie

Jamie.
Thanks for replying. Did the record show which parish Richard was living in at the time? I am almost certain that Sarah was born in Rippingale, parents Joseph and Anne, christened 1790, but todate I have not found Richard's parents.

Hi Bob

The entry gives him as of this parish and a blacksnith. I have looked on my tree for this marriage and do not have parents for Richard either.
I have Sarah Ellis as a spinster on the marriage entry again no parents.

Jamie

Jamie

Thanks again. A strong possibility for Richard's parents is Stephen and Jane Caunt. The IGI gives a christening for Richard Caunt in 1796 in Denton which is about 12 miles from Rippingale. Richard and Sarah named two of their children Stephen and Jane. Maybe just a coincidence, but my best guess to date.
