Title: William Moore CORNISH descendants
Post by: lmw22 on Saturday 09 June 07 15:23 BST (UK)
Hi, All

My husband & I have a collision in our trees and are both looking for the same info.

William Moore Cornish was born in Suffolk in 1814, married a girl from Somerset, had 3 children and then headed south, arriving in SA 13 Feb 1849.  They had a further 4 children when they arrived.  We have some details for marriages/grandchildren but are looking for any help as far up to date as possible.  The children were:  Charles Cox Cornish, Rowland Clements Cornish, Ann Mary Sloper Cornish, William Henry Cornish, Thomas Cornish, Sarah Selina Cornish and Robert Clements Cornish.    We have no marriage or death dates for the last 3.  The others all had children except William Henry Cornish - at least we have no evidence to suggest a marriage/children.

Look forward to any info anyone can give us.

Thanks in advance

Lynnck

Thanks Cando - that's brilliant.

We suspected that William's mother's maiden name was Moore but found nothing to substantiate it.

Good morning, Cando

Yes, please, births would be useful.  Thank you.

Sparrett - thank you for that.

Just heading off to Suffolk & Norfolk to look round graveyards - might even find William Moore Cornish's parents.

You might like to look at Worldconnect if you have not done so already.
There are a great many Austarlian Cornish's listed many of whom are in your SA region.
One contributor has your Charles Cox C. and his son Lionel listed.
She/He might know more if you make contact.  you might just see  a name of significance to you too.

if you look at my site www.butleigh.org you will find William Moore Cornish - I would welcome more information about the family - and a photograph or two? There are enough Butleigh people who left for Australia and New Zealand to fill a book - as you can see, I am trying to list the family history of everyone who lived in Butleigh 1500-1911+

Also this interesting MI at Payneham Cemetery:

William Henry Cornish
Born at Kensington 27th March 1849
Died at Adelaide 16th May 1888
He was Chief Surveyor of the Province and explored and conducted the Triconometrical Surveys of the Diamentina and Coopers Creek and Herbert River Country and the Eucla Country West Coast.  Through exposure and the great Hardships he endured in his work in the interior his health broke down and he died in the flower of his age.  Beloved and Respected.  May his Soul Rest in Peace.

Cheers, Chris.
