Title: Colouring a photo
Post by: colwoodtom on Thursday 07 June 07 14:39 BST (UK)
Hello.

I am new to these boards but have looked at the great work some of you have done when colouring the photos and wondered if anyone could have a go at this one for me?

This photo was found in my great aunts belongings when she died earlier this year. My Nana has told me that the hat was black and the coat was a pale green colour (she had light brown hair) would anyone be able to have a go at colouring it in for me? It would be great to show my Nana and would be interesting to see it as it was so to speak.

Thanks

Cazza, you did some colouings for me before  (do you remember the lady wh had a very thin waist an you gave her a purple dress? She is standing next to a pillar kind of thing and has a jet bib on. You also coloured my g auntie who looked like she was in the french resistance!)

Thanks everyone.

I can't help feeling this young lady would have had red pigment in her colouring and had freckles... ::)...The different restores are so lovely 8)

Aw TT, that's exactly what I thought LOL, that's why I've gone for very pale skin (probably too pale  ::) ) but I pictured the exact same thing, slightly reddish with faint freckles (my original restore looked like freckles, well I think so, but then I cleaned them off )!!

Great minds!

I agree TT it's sometimes difficult to know the shade but she does have a lovely fresh complexion,  a slightly more golden light brown hair colour and freckles would look equally right. I liked the hair colouring you did  ;D I tried to reproduce it then made the whole thing too light!  :-[
I also had problems trying to work out her eye colour, hazel or a dark blue?  :-\ I think that made me change my mind on the hair colouring.

Excellent subtle variations here though, I do sometimes  wonder how much  the monitor adjustments and graphic card quality are responsible on how we "see" the subtle shade differences when doing the colouring?  Does anyone else have a super dooper graphics card?

I think I am right in saying , it's not having a super duper ,card that makes the difference , it is the monitor , afterall that's what you look at. If it isn't set right , then it doesn't matter what is being sent to it !

Think of your TV , a programme could be recorded on the best cameras in the world, if you have a cheap old ,nasty , TV , then you are going to see a mess.

Also , don't forget those big round things in your head , if they aren't tested , then you might not even see the screen.     :o 8) ::)

I think we all suffer from that J.C....I'm sure on the journey between photoshop and the restoration board...there are little gremlins waiting to sabotage ;D ;D ;D...That's my excuse anyway :P
