Does anyone know where I should go to find entry records of inmates to Arundel Workhouse? A Frances and George Hone are listed as children being transferred there on the 1861 census with a note in the margin 'deserted in Marylebone'. They were aged 11 and 12. Frances was born in Arundel, George in London. I just wonder if any additional records would exist?
Thanks!

Hi thehen,
I will be visiting the RO in Chichester some time in late July/August. I can have a look to see if the have any more information on Frances and George for you.
I just had a nosey on the censuses for this pair, both children are said to have been born in Arundel (1861 census only, George is born Middlesex in other censuses, plus there is no birth record in Sussex for George). George is transcribed as being 52, looking at it it could be 12 or 52, however as he was deserted (and it doesn't specify by his wife I presume he was just 12).
I also had a look on the 1851 census, where both children should appear, I cannot find Frances at all and there are too many posibilities for George.
Do you have the kids birth certificates?
The record for Frances is:
Frances Hone district Worthing, June quarter 1850, vol 7 pg 581
Frances (Fanny) is a servant in 1871 in Marylebone
George is living with his aunt and uncle in Arundel in 1871. He married Harriet Rogers in June 1/4 1872 (Vol 2b pg 487, district of East Preston)
