Okay here is what I know
Amy Augusta Norris b c1856 Yeovil
In 1881 Living in Wroughton with Goerge Henry Stratford as Amy/Augusta Stratford.
Her first son was Charley b c1877 Yeovil.
Would someone be able to find her in the 1861 and 1871 census?
Also I can't seem to find a marriage or birth for her, so if anyone could help with that I would be very grateful.

she (AA) was born in Swindon according to the 1881 - have you got her marriage Cert ?
FreeBMD only 95% complete for 1857 .....
Have you got the maiden name from a Cert ?

Hi all :)
1871 isn't much help (if it's her in the first place!)

I cant see Charley aged 4 BMD entry in the right areas .... but his little sisters is in Highworth District - correct for Wroughton ..

Hi Tati - in case you hadnt already, you can eliminate the Amy born in the Chard / Ilminster (Broadway) district .... she shows up in 1881, so not the same person.
However, in 1891 Amy Stratford is specific with Yeovil, Somerset as her PoB ... ::)
and in 1901 in Aldershot, she is Augusta - PoB Yeovil
Cant see a marriage ::)

I have to leave it to you, Newf :-* - too difficult for me :(
-
This could well be her ....
I think the enumerator was over-enthusiastic with his use of 'do' / ditto - hence the daughters are Boarders ::)

been there Irret - see earlier post ref Amy from Chard/Ilminster/Broadway .... :)

Christopher & Emma are still at that address in 1871 - with 2 new Boarders - cant see Agusta/Amy or Adelaide ... and the Yeovil connection is still unexplained ?
But Adelaide marries in 1880 ... in Bath to a Wilkins

Thank you all for your replies.
It just doesn't seem to add up...
I got her name from her daughters(my gr grandmothers) birth certificate this morning.
Her eldest Charley was born in Yeovil c.1877 and then she moved to Wroughton by 1881. George Stratford always lived in Wroughton (census)
and I wondered if Charley had a different father and then she moved here?!
Newfy- that could be them in the 1861 census, Hannah, Adelaide, Augusta all family names. I noticed that it said she was born in Swindon 1881. I am very confused.

A way forward might be to obtain the 1857 Birth Cert of Adelaide - see who her parents were - if they werent the Chris' and Emma in 1861 census, then the 'Boarders' relationship is correct .... and you're back to Square one..... altho you will have the actual parents names to work with, which will help if the girls are sisters....
If it IS them, and the mother is formerly Dur(r)ant, then that marriage is correct.
And also safe to assume that Agusta / Amy was born out of wedlock, but at least shares one parent with Adelaide ....
