Hi
I found on ancestry Elijah Grantham and Bertha Storah, who were both born in Stockport, Elijah is the g uncle of my husband, and Bertha is my SIL's godmother, they had a daughter called Joyce Edith born c1931 in Stockport. where they were born and married.
On the site it says Elijah died in Christchurch but no year was given.
How can I find more info please.
Thank you

Hi Jackie
Unfortunately NZ Births and Deaths are only on fiche...
Had a look on Archives and the Burial index (not complete) to see if there was a mention of Elijah, but no luck.
Had a look on the Christchurch Cemetery on-line database, but once again no luck.
Here's the link to Cemeteries that are on-line:
http://nzgenealogy.rootschat.net/cemetery.html
even if he did die in Christchurch, there is a chance he may have been buried elsewhere.
Any idea when he was born, to try and narrow down the date range to search?
Bren.

Hello Bren
I know Elijah was born here in Stockport Cheshire c1896 and his wife Bertha (nee Storah) born also Stockport c1903, they married in stockport in 1927 and had a daughter Joyce here in 1931, was looking on ancestry for anyone with same names in family tree when I saw it had Elijah Grantham died Christchurch New Zealand, put on by living Grantham but unable to contact them.
I have now found name of person who put the info ancestry, typed the name into genes and a name has come up so have now contacted them, no reply as yet but may be a lead to the family.
I will have a look at the on line cemeteries.
Thank you for your help.
Kind regards
Jackie

Hello Jackie
I had a quick look at the Genealogical Card Index in the Christchurch City library this afternoon, and there was no sign of Elijah, Bertha or Joyce amongst the thirty or so Granthams. That doesn't mean he didn't die here, it just makes him a bit harder to find.
I'll have more time next week if you are still looking.
Happy hunting,
Alpha

Hello Alpha
I think Joyce came back to England, have found her name on another site and have tried to contact the person who I think may be her son but as yet have had no reply.
Many thanks
Kind regards
