Hello: I don't know if I can help you but I have a John Henderson born 1829 in Dunfermline. Now it only says this on a few of his censuses.  But, they are the earlier ones so I think they would be more accurate as memory tends to fade as we age.  His parents were Margaret Smith and John Henderson( a seaman). Margaret was born between 1801-1806. They first appear on the 1841 Bo'ness census ( Margaret was a widow and there were no other children mentioned). John married one Ann(e) Foot(e), daughter of Alexander , a butcher from Fife, and Marion Lindsay.  I think marrying a girl form Fife sort of makes the Fife connection stronger.  If you think there may be a connection , let me know and I can share information with you.   Donna

Hi all,

Sorry I haven't replied to you all sooner than this but I haven't been very well.

The time period for the Bell Family (Robert Bell) was born 01 Nov 1772 in Largo Fife. He died 18 Nov 1859.

Dawson family (Alexander Dawson married Helen Bell 07 Dec 1829) born abt 1800. Would love to know who his siblings and parents were or any other relative.

Bogie Family (Grissle Bogie born 03 Oct 1776 Leslie Fife Scotland). Her parents were William Bogie and Ann Henderson.

Any information on these families would be appreciated.

Thankyou so much Donna for your information, I am still trying to put the Henderson Family together so if I find out any more or a connection I will let you know.

Mike, can you give me any dates on your Robert Bell? I have a Andrew Bell who married Iosabel or Anne Patrick 13 Mar 1738 in Largo, Fife, Scotland. Does any of that fit in with yours??

Wendy

Hi Wendy and Mike,
Sorry to jump in on your chat but have just joined this site and came across your chat about the PHILPS of Fife.

My name is Peter from Melbourne Australia. I am trying to research my family linage back to Fife before travelling to Scotland in August.

My great grandfather was Robert Philp born in St Andrews (I believe) in 1849. As a child he came to Australia and lived in Tasmania. He was later ordained into the Methodist Church, move to Victoria and became the President of the Methodist Conference. He married Elizabeth Morey in Australia.

Wonder if yours and mine link. Love to hear back from you.

Regards,

Peter

Dear DDJJAke (Henderson)

Thank you for your reply. I am looking for info on Robert Philp, born St Andrews 1849 and as a child went to Tasmania (Australia). He later became a Methodist Minister.

Do you have any links to the Philps.

Regards,

Peter Philp

Hi to you to DDJJake,

I am in Australia. We are nearing the centre of our winter but the weather is still mild.I will be in Scotland in August to enjoy some of your summer.

Thank you very much for the information you have sent on the Philps. I have drawn complete blanks in tracking them back to Scotland but your info is very valuable.

Do you have a connection with any of the Philps? Also is there a Philp clan and if so do they have a coat of arms? My mother's family were from Ireland ( rebels who fought Queen Elizabeth I). Before arriving in Scotland we will be attending a clan meeting with that side of the family.

Thanks again. Any additional info would be very valuable.

Regards,

Peter Philp
