Hi all,
Would like to know if Emma Hobbs married a Thomas Slemen or a Thomas Ludlam in 1855, Tonbridge 2a 421.
Emma was born about 1832 Portsea Hampshire. 1851 she was in Tonbridge with parents and siblings.
Census 1861 should reveal which Thomas it was.
The other Thomas married a Martha Susan Robb (Tonbridge 2a 421).
If you find her could anyone please send me then also the details of the other censuses (1871 and up).
Thank you!! :D

It appears to be Thomas Sleman on the 1871. The 1861 lists it as Sloman. this is the 1871 entryS
Kemp Town Brighton, 4 St James Street
Thomas Sleman Hd M 42 Woollen draper Tunbridge Kent
Emma Sleman W M 38 Portsmouth Hants
Lucy Hobbs Niece 12 Whitstable Kent
The rest are servnts who seem to work for Thomas as assistants.
Having checked the 1881 they appear to have one son called Edgar who was 10 in 1881 and recorded as being born in Hampshire
Hope this helps

You can also double check marriages in the current Kent registration districts on the Kent BMD site where there is a unique reference number per couple:

That's right dmm, 1861 census Civil Parish - Seasalter, Town - Whitstable.
I thought the name was Mary on the original but couldn't be sure.
I'm pleased I was right :)
