Title: Wroughton census'/addresses
Post by: jeepster on Thursday 31 May 07 14:56 BST (UK)
I have relatives who were born and lived in Wroughton

George Stratford b 1838 and Hannah Williams b 1839

I have found them in the 1861, 71, 81, 91 and 1901 census' as living in the High Street. How do I find what house/houses they lived in?

thanks
Lisa

The Primitive Methodist Chapel that you refer to in your PR was situated in an area by the name of The Pitchens.  It was the Barcelona Stables but now there are about 6 very expensive houses there.

On the 1891 census -  George, Hannah, Elizabeth, Frank and Frederick Stratford -

There were about 5 thatched cottages that are between the Fairwater House Building, past what was the Ely public house in the High Street and Phillimores bakery.  They were burnt down in the Great Fire of Wroughton in 1896.

Hope this helps
