Hi All
I am probably a bit slow this morning - but I might have found my Uncle on the 1911 FreeBMD site - but in the middle is a new section with mother.
This has the name Davis - my correct mother should have a maiden name of Davis but was married before to a "Hay" - what name therefore should be on the form Hay or Davis?
Does that make sense?
Cheers

Hi Keith
It is the maiden name that should be in the index (from 1911). So, in your case, that would be DAVIS!

Thanks for that - I'll give it a go

Ok - am I being a bit thick? Where is the mother's maiden name shown?
-
In the search boxes - just type "1911" in start date, select births and select a district - you will see!
It's probably a bit busy tonight but you will see the maiden surname after the child's Christian name.
