Can I please have a death look up please for Elizabeth Jones nee Teakle wife of Charles Jones
Date unknown but after 1850
Maybe in Vic but could be in any state

Kate have you an approximate date of birth for Elizabeth. A bit difficult to pinpoint your Elizabeth - especially in South Australia.
Also parents' names if possible.

Sophia Augusta JONES birth reg 'MBIN' 1858 / reg number: 54
father: Charles
mother: Elizabeth TEAKLE
There are a number of baptisms (born Castlemaine, bapt Church of Christ, Castlemaine), but do not have the mother's maiden name. James, George & Harriet all baptized in 1852 / 20443,20444, 20445 - consecutive numbers they will all be probably on the same sheet.
They also married in Victoria in 1848 / 5304
St James, Melbourne
where two kids were baptized (again no mother's maiden name)
Samuel John 1849 / 16337
William Charles 1850/ 16938
A think that they are all the same family.
A death not found in Vic to 1888.

I searched in Victoria up until 1913 without finding a certain death - but it would be hard to spot her if the informant did not know her parents names.
Have you found her husband's death? she may be buried with him.

There are a number of Teakle son First Families.
Perhaps you are working with one or other of the researchers there.
The Teakles referred to mostly come from Horsley, Gloustershire and are born before 1830.

Hi all
Charles Jones died 1875 Alexandra VIC.
they lived in the Beechworth area.
I knew all of their kids birth dates but do not know who Harriett or George married. Could someone look up their marriages please George and Harriett ?
Mine is James who was baptised with them at Castlemaine.
He married Mary Ellen Barton
James Jones born 16 Nov 1847 NSW Argyle Jacqua
George Jones born 19 Feb 1850 ?
Harriet Jones born 22 Oct 1851 ?
As they were baptised at CASTLEMAINE I guess the only way to find out where they were born is to get their marriage details?

My brick wall is Charles Jones and when he came to Australia so working around to find when he came here

Sorry about giving you the kids that you already had - I made the presumption that 1850 was the last you had seen of her.
Do you have Charles death certificate? this will list the names of his children which would probably include the two baptized in the two years following the marriage. It will also indicate if any of his children are deceased by 1875.
It will also give an idea of when he may have came to Australia.
Elizabeth may have remarried. Have you checked to see if she is buried with her husband?

While looking for deaths / marriages for George & Harriet I spotted this death - which has no matching birth registration.
Charles JONES died 1854, aged 6 weeks, father Charles, mother Elizabeth
Birthplace shown as Moorabbin, where Francis & Sophia were registered.
I'm sorry, the names are just too common to pick any marriages for them, and I cannot find deaths either, so they have probably popped over the border into NSW (which you can search yourself free online)

The index's do not give parents names so it would be extremely difficult for anyone to find their marriages .

Do you have any other death certificates? If so don't they have marriage deatails on them.

Parents are unknown on the index - about the same time there is a John Jones of a similar age and a Julia Jones (around 30ish) dying in the same place. Usually the death certificates are filled out by a Constable who attends the inquest, often they do not bother to put details on - one gets vague things like 'married, particulars unknown'. The actual inquest documentation may give further information, or the hospital and burial records.

I finally got the death certificate for the Elizabeth Jones mentioned who died in 1892 Beechworth.
The reason I got it was because the age could have fitted and could not find any other death that matched.
The death cert stated married, no husbands name given and no other details unfortunately re children.
So now will have to get the coroners report but it still may not eliminate her.
I was concerned it didnt have children mentioned but it is possible she was estranged from her children

These two would cover the time that your Elizabeth was there
Unit 1, 21 Aug 1878 - 29 Mar 1892 (PDF file, 33.1 MB)
Unit 2, 29 Mar 1872 - 18 Jan 1904 (PDF file, 42.0 MB)
Unit 2 has a list of inmates in alphabetical order in the first few pages but I couldn't see an Elizabeth Jones. Unfortunately, from what it says (if I have read correctly) the first lot are not indexed at all. They are big files and take a while to down-load so I didn't go any further. I think you'll need a free afternoon and a cup of tea and a biscuit or two to go through them. :P
The one or two I looked at are quite detailed and do have information about family etc. As Christine said, in an earlier post, death certificates for people in institutions can be very limited when the informants don't have much information.

If it takes me a few days I will trudge through the index. I have started !
What made me get the death cert was I saw an article in Trove newspaper by accident of an old lady I thought was Elizabeth Jones or Mrs Jones involved in a house fire in the area my Elizabeth lived in. Alexandra, Beechworth. Didnt think too much of it at the time as just didnt think it would be mine.
I cant find the article so have no idea what to look under to find it !

why not look in TROVE again? You might narrow down the responses (with a name like Jones) by restricting your search to 'house fire' and 'Beechworth'

Yes have tried everything.
I was doing research on another Jones and saw it and thought it wasnt mine.
Have tried Mrs Jones, E Jones etc but still cant find it. House fire, police court etc
Just goes to show I should have saved the article !
I now have the patient record for Elizabeth Jones for the asylum but dont believe the Elizabeth Jones is mine.
