Tracing my side of the Shropshire Birch's which seems to go back to John Birch (b c1813) from Shrawardine (or Baschurch) married (Mar 1838) to Emma Edwards (b 1809) from Shrawardine. This was a 2nd marriage for Emma as she brought at least two children (Thomas and William) into the marriage.
I can go back on her side another 3 generations but I'm stuck with John Birch and cannot find any info online either through ancestry.co.uk or IGI, and would dearly like to jump back into the previous century with the paternal line.
We live in S Wales so on the ground hunting is not so easy (!). Any help would be appreciated
Regards
John

Have you got the marriage certificate? If you haven't, this should help you ;)

Once you know John's father's name then that should really help you work backwards.

Hi ,I have seen John and Emma marriage certificate and he says his father is John birch --a horse Jockey ???. He gives the address -- Broomfields .
My great x2 grandfather Richard Birch and his family lived at Broomfield Cottage near to Fitz from at least 1832 --1900;s
Richard was baptized at Baschurch in 1809 his parents were John and Mary .in 1813 at Baschurch John ans Sarah baptized John ( who later married Emma ) I think that my Richard was John (1813 ) brother
Its a difficult branch to follow because there are several John and Richard Birch in a small rural area .Please contact me if you want further details

John
I am a direct descendant of Emma Birch and upon reading your posting, I was hoping you may be willing to share her ancestors that go back a further 3 generations. I've been searching for a while and have got stuck going further back with her. I know she had an illegitimate son called James Edwards, but I've never been able to trace his father too.
Best wishes
Mike Edwards

No Vonne i haven't got any further with John Birch the horse jockey. I know as much as you do about him, probably less! I have everything on his son John & Daughter in Law Emma Edwards that there is to know i think....from birth, marriage, every census, and burial entries. But i can't find a single thing on John Senior!
I do know John junior was listed as living at Broomfields in 1838 on his marriage cert - but of course you already know that! I know nothing about this being the 2nd marriage of Emma tho? I know James was born in 1834 before she married John Birch, but her maiden name was Edwards as listed on their marriage certificate, so what makes you think she was married before?
I'd love to see your photos of the cottage if at all possible, as i only live 10 miles down the road so would love to go have a look sometime? :)
