Having found a Gt......Gt Grandfather of ours in Upmarden. James Dance birth c. 1774 who married Sarah. We have lost the trail. Wondered if anyone has come across him please.
Perhaps he is across the border in Hampshire.

You say you have found James, and then lost the trail. When do you have him in Up Marden, and when does the trail go cold?

James Dance buried in Upmarden 8th August 1832. His children were born in Upmarden, and several grandchildren. I cannot find his marriage to Sarah,
or his baptism.
Yes we go to Upmarden also Racton where we have found many of the Dance families.

Chichester St Pancras, West Sussex

married 25 March 1815
both of this parish, by banns
I think Chichester is not that far from Upmarden

Thanks for this information. Yes it certainly could be! I was looking more over the border in Hampshire as it is only a mile or so away. but Chichester is a good bet.

I wasn't sure because it is quite late on and he would be just over 40 but Sarah could be a lot younger, or it could be a second marriage?
Anyway I hope it turns out to be the right one.

Tricia - re Dance Family - Up Marden - I am wondering if you have continued your research, James Dance and Sarah Hewell - are parents of Thomas Dance - my Great - great - grandfather.

Thank you for your message. We are continuing the family trees and was interested in your information.
According to our records James and Sarah had 4 children George, William, Ann and Thomas.
My husbands family came from the George who married Elizabeth Lambourn They had a Charlotte in 1864 who married a William Gibbins and they then had a Gertrude Charlotte Gibbins in 1894. This was my husbands grandmother.
Does this match any of your information. I haven't looked at this tree for some time so I am a little rusty on details.

hello Tricia - have been trying to follow some more family records. This research and info. is by another Dance family member - I. Brownsdon - in Brisbane - Qld. His records list George Dance (b. 12 - 11 1820), as father of 'eleven' children! Maybe have a look at these records and see if you can reconcile any info.
