Title: Marriage in Glasgow
Post by: Trees on Wednesday 23 May 07 13:08 BST (UK)
Can any one look at a marriage for me please
It is on 21 Sep 1818 between George MOULE or MOLE and Janet HALDANE I need to know if he was a soldier of the 7th Foot, Fusiliers son of William MOULE of Ombersley Worcestershire. It would also be good to know who Janet's father was.
i have the wedding from Family Search
Many Thanks
Trees

In 1818 it would be an entry from the parish records. These can be viewed online now at www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk (http://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk) (cost 5 credits to view an image). Often the OPRs will just give the names of the bride and groom and when the banns are read and no details of parents.

Had a look at the entry on Scotlandspeople and it reads:

George Mole Mercht in Glasgow and Janet Haldane resident there. Married 21st Septemr by Dr Wm Taylor one of the ministers of Glasgow.

I've got an image of the OPR for this.  Limited info on it.

Thank you both I assume the Mercht means he was a merchant not the expected soldier so its back to the drawing board. Many thanks
