Hello,
Can someone help me to find John Burnside, who married Sarah Allen in Londonderry. I can't find when they got married. i would like to find his parents and Sarah's parents. I know that there son John married Mary Young. Unfortunately I don't know when they got married, at a guess between 1859-1864. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

According to index at www.irishgenealogy.ie John Burnside m.1859 Co.Londonderry to Sarah Allen.
IGI at www.familysearch.org lists 5 children:
1. Mary Anne Burnside born 2 Feb.1864 Bellaghy dist., Co. L'derry
2. Alexander Burnside born 15 Jan.1867 Bellaghy dist.
3. William Burnside born 13 Nov.1868 Co. L'derry
4. Sarah Burnside born 1 May 1874 Co. L'derry
5. John Burnside born 9 Mar.1877 Co. L'derry
There are probably children born before registration began in 1864 but it is quite possible that the family lived in the Bellaghy area and the parents might have gotten married somewhere in that area.
P.S. the marriage will list the fathers not the mothers of the couple.

John Burnside* had a sister Alice Kennedy probably older than him. John B died at Kilbery Londonderry on 15 May 1908. Also in family Robert Burnside died 1 december 1927.
Im g grand daughter of Ellen Burnside daughter of John and Nelly (above). Will pass on any other info i obtain.

Hi Alison,
Can I ask how you know that John Burnside/Nelly Miller have a known connection to John Burnside/Sarah Allen if it's not known how they are connected? ???
Have you looked at the 1911 Irish Census for Killyberry [http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1911/Londonderry/Bellaghy/Killyberry/607722/ ]? There is a Robert Burnside with wife Lizzie and a brood of children including Kennedy Burnside. With the family are Robert's brother John [34] and his sisters Jane [43] and Lizzie [31]. Might be a coincidence!
Also in Killyberry in 1911 are another Robert Burnside with wife Lizzie and his mother Sarah, who I believe to be Sarah Allen who incidentally is my great great grandmother ;D
It's possible that John Burnside [husband of Nelly Miller] was the brother of [or otherwise related to] the William Burnside Princess has mentioned but I haven't been able to get back beyond the marriage of John and Sarah. I also have a copy of a will relating to the death of John Burnside in 1908, who I believed to be the husband of Sarah - I don't have it to hand, so I'll look it out later in the week.
Hopefully the 1901 Irish census will give us all some answers next week!
Best wishes

hello, In response to your Sarah Allen, I have a Jane Allen in my tree, from bellaghy area born 1830's married bellaghy church 1864, father samuel. I am thinking they were cousins. Have you found any other info related to the family. Here is another tidbit, there is a website about drumpamph very close to bellaghy area. The website lists the residents of drumlamph, there are a lot of Allen's. Namely an Alexander could be father to your Sarah. Let me know what you think..... :)

Hi Ann,
I'm afraid I haven't made any further progress beyond John Burnside and Sarah Allen's fathers being William and Alexander, respectively. When they married in 1859, Sarah's residence was Killyberry and an Alexander Allen appears in the 1858? Griffiths' Valuation as being in Killyberry, who I have assumed is Sarah's father.
It's possible that Jane Allen and her father Samuel are relations, but I'm sorry that I haven't made a connection to Drumlamph yet.
Best wishes

PRONI has the following- "Probate of the Will of Alexander Allen late of Kilberry County Londonderry Farmer who died 11 January 1911 granted at Londonderry to James Johnston Farmer."

Thanks for your reply, good news I have actual documents stating that my Jane Allen gave birth to children born in Killyberry. Too close to be a coincidence, pls keep in touch. If I find anything, will contact you...all the best Annie

Hi Annie,
It certainly appears that there might be a connection and I'll come back and post here if I find anything.
Aghadowey's post has also just reminded me that I have a copy of the 1911 will of Alexander Allen that I obtained ages ago. I'll dig it out and see if it has any clues.
Thanks
